Solved Start up time

Hi all,
No biggy, no problems. Why does W11 take much longer to start up than W10 did. It's not into minutes or anything drastic, just wondering if it is normal?

Define what "much longer" looks like, 5 seconds, 10, 50 etc.

There are a multitude of reasons why it could be taking longer.

• Higher system requirements for Windows 11
• More / different services, drivers, components and services loading at boot
• The number of start-up applications can impact boot times
• Security software
• Disk encryption

maybe PCI resource conflict caused by any driver

I find W11 is much slower from login to seeing the desktop than W10 on my 11 year old Dell laptop which has the slowest CPU of all my PCs.

my 13 year old hp laptop boots in 20 second in windows 11 after i solved driver issue. In windows 10 it was around 30second. If it helps i use latest hp driver rather than auto installed windows update drivers.

If you just installed Windows 11, it might download and install some Windows updates in the background or just checking for available updates. That's why it takes more time. For comparison to be fair, install all the available updates and then compare again. Also make sure you have the same drivers and configuration. If, for example, Windows 11 loads more apps at startup than 10, it will take more time. I just installed Windows 11 on an new HP laptop (13 generation Intel Core-i3) and is from off to desktop in less than 10 seconds! Wow! Of course all drivers have been updated and there are no Windows updates pending. In fact after having installed all drivers and all updates, I find Windows 11 run faster than Windows 10 in many systems. For maximum performance don't rely entirely on Windows Update to find all drivers. Visit manufacturer's support site and download them from there, especially the chipset and graphics drivers.

I haven't noticed any additional boot time with Win11 over my previous Win10 computers.

It takes around 50 sec from woe to go as opposed to W10 around 20sec on the same comp, so like I said no biggy.

Part of the reason boot time gets slower over time is because the default setting for way too many applications is to run at startup. It's usually safe to go to the startup apps section of task manager and disable everything you don't actually plan to use as soon as the computer starts up. Obviously, don't disable your antivirus and VPN (if you use one) or any hardware-related apps, but just about everything else is fair game.

this is annoying, there is definitely something there which cause this slow boot. Mine was opening in 1minute 20second right after updated from w10 to w11. I had to check system devices under device manager carefully. Have u also tried disabling services in msconfig except microsoft services?

Is your fast start up enabled under power options?
