Start WhatsApp Minimized At Windows Startup

There are two general WhatsApp settings.
  • Start WhatsApp at Login.
  • Minimize to System Tray (Keep WhatsApp running after closing the application window).
They are both turned on.

But when I start Windows, WhatsApp opens with the window open on my desktop. I want it to start minimized when Windows starts.

I'm using the Microsoft Store app. I think it's the only version available now.

Bug. Whatsapp has been acting wonky nowadays...
First, you totally needed it running in the background, otherwise you didn't get notifications.
Then, you finally don't need it on startup, but now you get a useless "You may have new messages, open Whatsapp" notification each time you start your system... Like dude...

Now, if you leave it on startup, it shows the main window no matter what.

But yes, it's a bug. Let's hope Meta can put heir head together and make this app useful for once, or return to the old UW App.

WhatsApp doesn't even show a new message indicator on the tray icon like Telegram or Messenger Plus.

I'm not sure if WhatsApp ever did work properly in Windows as I'm only a new user of it in Windows.

I can make you an ahk compiled to exe to do this (pretty sure the Messenger app request i did this for a while back was you as well right? It’d be just like that)

It does for me at least... but one never knows if that is gonna break later.
When the app used to be a native program, worked a lot better. Used much less RAM and was a lot more stable... buuuut... today this chromium/electron pandemonioum thing is making things worse each time lol

sorry for the delay. also it wasn't your post for the messenger lol, that was my misremembrance. attached is the .exe if you want to just download it and place a shortcut to it in your Shell:Startup folder (turn off the actual app from running at startup or it may run 2 instances). the way this script is written is to avoid any future issues with locating the app package, so:

1) create a shortcut from your start menu of the whatsapp app and place the shortcut (.lnk) in C:\ (so it will be C:\WhatsApp.lnk)
2) Download the exe
3) create shortcut to exe and place the shortcut in Shell:Startup
4) in the whatsapp app, disable launch at startup
5) when you boot, the exe will run and it will launch WhatsApp, wait 6 seconds, and then close the main window (i put a 6 second delay to help any systems)

WinActivate, WhatsApp
WinWaitActive, WhatsApp, , 3

Send, !{F4}
