  • Negative resource usage: fewer RAM used, fewer processes started, faster startup

StartAllBack For Windows 11 has been released.
It's an RC release. I haven't tested it yet as I have Start11 installed.

Edit: I have now tested it. It's working quite well.
Apart from a great start menu, you can also have the Enhanced Classic Taskbar back.
This means (for example) that you can have an uncombined and unlocked Taskbar.
You will now also be able to enhance the Taskbar clock using T-Clock Redux or similar.
T-Clock Redux Tray Clock_.png

You can also change Windows Explorer to Ribbon UI or Simple UI.

You can get it Download

I have some software for win adjustments and mentioned it in here but it got removed? Something about advertising conflicts. So, isn't this the same thing?? Gen question.

Did you try an older version?
I did consider it but decided to wait. I don't have any problem on my old desktop. I'm wondering if it's because I have dual monitors on my new desktop.

Hmmm..., can't really speculate on that, I'm still on 3.5.7..., I've not encountered any problems.

If the next insider build doesn't fix the problem or a new version of StartAllBack is released, I'll try a few older versions.

I don't know whose fault this is, startallback or windows, but when I type say "word" into the search of the start menu, "wordpad" is listed before "word". "Notepad++" is listed before "Notepad". No dictionary I know of would put them that way round. Anything comes after nothing at all when sorting alphabetically. If it's by most used, Notepad is used several times a day. Notepad++ twice on purpose, billions of times accidentally when I search "note" and press enter. I had to uninstall Notepad++ to stop it happening!

I guess it's putting the most often used at the top. Not sure why it's got Notepad++ above Notepad.

I'm trying to get the thing on the right end of the taskbar to peek at the desktop. I've turned it on in Windows settings, I've checked the registry at Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced, taskbarSD is set to 1. But it's not there. Is this something Startallback controls?

Throw your cursor down there and right click to see if Peek at desktop is check marked...

View attachment 56176

If I right click I get a greyed out peek:

1679606529653.png

I can left click to show the desktop, then left click again to restore all the apps to where they were. That will do. Looks like MS removed the peek ability at some point. I guess it was annoying, I'd activate it by mistake by my cursor straying down there.

Thanks! That worked! I guess all the web pages I found saying MS had removed that function were wrong. Or does this only work if startallback is installed?

It should work but I'm not sure in native W11 cuz I run SAB in W7 mode always.
Not sure what setting you're referring to. I have "Plain8" on the start menu tab and taskbar tab of SAB. The welcome tab appears to be on "Proper 11" even though I previously set it to "Kinda 10", but I've got a square start menu, even though SAB tells me it should be rounded.
