StartAllBack

Yep I think it doesn't auto check.

I use Windows 7 taskbar, Plain8 start menu, Win10 flyouts, AND Win11 explorer CommandBar. I didn't do it to be funny though, I just think that's what looks and works best. I'm not even joking. And no, I have no issues with it at all
Thanks for that. Do you recall how long ago you installed Startallisback?

It's a sad situation when you have to resort to such measures, but it's a very easy and cheap solution.

The other option is to stick with Windows 10, which I have done on all my computers, except one.

It's a joyful situation that these measures are still possible!
The sad part is, how did the OS get to this state!?!?!?
I fear for the future of Windows!!! :nope:

Depends on what's bothering you. But I agree SAB is pretty amazing for it's price. It's actually the first and only program that I ever bought (not including Steam games), so that should tell you something.
I personally don't mind using 3rd party apps as long as they are built nicely. I don't want janky solutions and apps with a huge footprint. SAB seems great so far in that regard. However, I agree it is sad where Windows is going, and also how low the quality bar has been lowered. They don't care about Windows at all anymore, it's almost like they offloaded it to interns.

I do have one problem with SAB though. It forces the System applet in Control Panel to use an image that wasn't intended to be there. It takes the image from basebrd.dll (which is the Windows logo displayed in winver.exe) and shoves it into System without having an option to disable it. So now my System looks like ass, look at the white background bellow. And when I made feedback on his site, he refused to change it, or even add a toggle which is what I asked for.

You might be right about that. :-)
Windows 11 has taken a direction that I can't understand.

Maybe Windows 12 will steer it back on course.
It won't be the first time in Windows history that they've steered off course, then turned it back in the following release.

about: basebrd.dll , there are 3 images there when you extract, one of them goes in winver , the other in windows information and a third that I don't know where it appears, but the winver image will be different from the one in the system, so you just edit it correctly again.

Sorry I was wrong they are the same image , I got confused with the OEMLogo.bmp image I made

Normally winver should use basebrd and System should use shellbrd. But SAB forces System to use basebrd as well. The problem is (other than if you want them to be different) that they don't handle transparency the same way. So the same image will have a transparent background in one place, but not in the other, and you can't do anything about it.

Having them in mouse gestures, it was really irking me that they weren't working.

Disregard previous e-mail. I thought that StartAllBack had a glitch with the Win-X menu on one of my machines. I just used Win-X editor to "restore defaults" and things thing to be correct now. Something had added a second Network Connections link to my Win-X menu.

I tried Startallback and it's a great program.

I compared with Explorer Patcher's taskbar;
it would be great if the creator of Startallback could implement 4 features of explorer patcher:

- the weather that loads in the taskbar;

-use of the icons of the SndVolSSO.dll file for the audio icons in the taskbar instead of the white icons;

-use of the icons of the pnidui.dll file for the network icons in the taskbar instead of the white icons;

-use of the stobject.dll.mun file icon for the USB devices icon in the taskbar instead of the white icon.

SndVolSSO.dll, pnidui.dll and stobject.dll.mun are Windows files and are easily customizable.

I hope the creator can read these tips; I don't know where the forum is to be able to give these suggestions to whoever created Startallback which, in my opinion, would improve their software even more.

Thank you

I'm not sure if it's a Windows thing or a SAB thing, but...,
using Win7 mode in 'Never, hide labels' mode, there's an anomaly with the upper right Close button placeholder, square corner vs rounded...

in 'Always, hide labels' mode, the anomaly doesn't exist...

STARTALLBACK SEEMS TO CHANGE OPERATION OF WINKEY - Used Start10 and Start11 before switching to StartIsBack, and later to StartAllBack. Start10 and Start11 allowed the WinKey to open the original Windows Menu. I can't seem to find a way to do that with StartAllBack. The WinKey opens the SAB menu, just like the Start Button.
I have occasion to help friends with computer issues and would like to use the original menu key when trying to help them navigate the Windows menu, on the phone. Am I missing a setting buried somewhere? Thanks for any help you can offer.
