By accident I've found a way of starting a file explorer window that always has the legacy ribbon active.

First go to Windows Tools from Control Panel (or from whatever shortcut you've used - mine is pinned to the task bar).

Now click on any entry in the left panel, eg Windows (C), and this happens every time.

So the code is still there. None of the registry hacks work any more on 22H2.

Interesting... Now it would be nice if the ribbon could stay without having to resort to your method every time.
And yeah, the registry hacks no longer work from 22H2 on.

Majorgeeks Windows Tweaks has just such a tweak, a .reg file. You will need to scroll down some way as there are 200 tweaks-

Ok, just for you... I took a screenshot of MY File Explorer, on Windows 10... then went onto Windows 11 and did it again.
On Win 11, I ran the @Brink tweak...

Keep in mind that I did an In-Place Upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 on October 6th 2021.
And I'm still not being offered 22H2 on Windows Update.
I'm no longer on Insider channel, I'm on the regular channel.

I'm currently on that build and yes, it still works... but, at least for now, it doesn't work for any 22H2 build, nor do all the other registry, etc hacks work. Hopefully the hacks will work in future STABLE 22H2 builds. 🤞

Unlikely anything will change on future 22H2 builds. 22621 is now declared RTM and all we will now see is Cumulative Updates which I doubt will change this situation. If anything, what I posted may itself stop working ....

That is always a problem when you have the "perfect" set up as a lot of the tweaks won't work and you have to wait and hope someone finds a new one, but some things nowadays are unchangeable

Don't be too hasty to believe it to be unchangeable. Give Brink a little time to work on it...or Wintools...or...
