Startup apps issues

Hi guys. I have an issue with two of my startup apps:
  • Screenshot Captor : doesn't start up with Win 11, despite the fact that there's a shortcut to it in
    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
  • System Transparency : same exact issue
I have to start them up manually with each Win 11 reboot, which is annoying.

I have a different issue with two other startup apps:
  • X-Mouse Button Control : starts up with Win 11, but doesn't start minimized despite the fact that in its Properties > Shortcut > Execute, "Minimized" is set up.
  • CyberPower PowerPanel : same exact issue

Could you please help me work my way around these issues? Thank you. ;-)

For your first two issues:
Clipboard 01.jpg

Check Start with Windows.

Clipboard 02.jpg

Click "Startup" (button toward the top right).

Try those and then restart, and let's see whether they work. If they work, you'll find both apps in Task Manager > Startup apps, and both will be Enabled.

Thanks @Wisewiz . Let's see. :-)

For ScreenshotCaptor (version 4.36.2 which seems to be the latest one), that setting is already checked in my case:

2024.05.27 - 23.49.03.png

For System Transparency, I don't seem to have the same version as you! Here are my settings:

2024.05.27 - 23.53.20.png

In "Startup", it asks me to manually put a shortcut into the Startup folder, which is exactly what I've done a while ago, and it doesn't seem to be enough.

Also, its settings are never memorized, so I have to enter everything manually every time. This could be due to it being an old version, or it could be an indication of something not working as it should.

Do I have an old version of System Transparency, and if so, where could I get the latest one? Thank you.

You could also try C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup folder for the two programs. Two different folders 🤷‍♂️

VinStar's version appears to be 1.3.2.2 (see "About"), while my (old ?) version by Prisoner7 seems to be 1.5.0.2.
I'm confused here.

@antspants why should I try the other folder?
  • Other startup apps work perfectly from that same folder, so trying the other folder doesn't seem very "scientific" to me
  • Most importantly, I don't want those startup apps for a particular user but for all users of this PC
Also, I have checked. Those apps are not disabled in Task Manager. However, for unknown reasons they appear 2 or 3 times. And they all point to the same exact app, not to different versions of the app:

Hi, Jose,

Yes I saw it. Just didn't get around to writing that I have an (unsupported) guess: the new one may be a fork of the older one (which shows a very old Windows logo in the background), may have been bought by another developer, or some such thing. New owners/developers often restart the version numbering, so Prisoner's 1.5.0.2 might have been replaced by A VinStar v. 1.0.0, and then developed up to 1.3.2.2. I don't know how to test my guess except to say that the VinStar site is up to date, and the Prisoner site is dormant. Your screenshot of the Prisoner version looks like W95 or W98. My screenshot looks noticeably newer.

I agree with you :-) I just couldn't find an explanation. VinStar's site is indeed very modern, the app looks more refined, etc. So yes, new versioning looks like a reasonable explanation. I think you may be right! I'll use VinStar's version from now on.

I won't do it @antspants , because like I said it would create another problem (one user vs. all users).
The solution has to be somewhere else. You just don't know what to do, and that's OK. Not all of us are experts. Cheers.

Arrogance will get you nowhere with me, like water off a ducks back. I’m not the one with your problem. What does that tell you? Also, It was just a suggestion, fella.

I'm still laughing from this comment. Like I actually would care. 🤣

I understand him being cut to the quick though. No self-proclaimed "expert" likes being told "you just don't know what to do". And yet that's exactly the truth here 🤷‍♂️ I don't know about other people, but when I ask a question online, people may know or not of course, and that's OK, but I don't like being told "if button A doesn't work, try button B even if it's outside your scope, because I have no actual idea of what I'm doing". Better not to say anything in that case. 🤦‍♂️

It's funny, because to me it was the "Do, don’t, ignore. Choices. Cheers." that was arrogant. But hey, to each his own. "Choices. Cheers." 🤣
