Windows 11
Got a strange freeze/hang yesterday in ~3 seconds. The cursor/windows was stuck and the music repeated to current sound.

Ran test for the memory and cpu today, all fine there.

Installed some windows updates before this and have also installed 25h3 after this problem.

Couldn't find anything in the event viewer or Reliability Monitor.

Any ideas? Should I log temp etc?

Sounds like something pegged your CPU for a few seconds. Has the machine been unusually slow lately? Has it taken more time to launch apps or respond to input other than this? Open the task manager and see if there is an app or process that is hogging CPU time that may be running in the background. Also, look at the disk usage of the processes as well to see if anything is hitting the disk at a high rate.

If this starts to happen more often, you can download System Informer from the Microsoft Store. It's a lot like Process Explorer, but with a little nicer interface, and will provide a CPU usage graph with history, and will tell you what the process with the highest usage was around the time of the hangup if you keep note of the time it happens.

Try a Clean Boot. If this is works, you can Leave it this way.
If you want to find out why, you can add one or more Services or Startup items at a time until the behavior returns, then you will know what the culprit is.

I had a freeze on my new desktop computer. I had to restart it.
For me, it was the MSI Center application. I had just updated it, so I used the MSI cleaner for that application to reinstall it properly. I'm not sure if that was it, but it hasn't frozen since.

If you have Asus utilities for your motherboard, use their cleaner to reinstall properly. Or simply reinstall.
You can wait and see if it refreezes.

If it only happened once it's probably nothing to worry about.

One thing came to my mind. Have been using more hyper-v lately - it takes more cpu and memory. I'll keep an eye on this and see how it goes.

I didn't say it yesterday, I didn't remember anymore, it was when I launched the msi center utility that the computer froze.

What services and startup do you mean?
If you click the highlighted link in Post #4 It takes you step by step, and explains what Services and Startup items to first turn off. If that works, you can Leave it this way, or add one or more of those you turned Off to ON. Until the behavior returns, then you will know the culprit.

Is it still happening or just the one time? If it only happened once, trying to fix it is like a dog trying to chase its tail.
