Hi there,

I've built a new system about a year ago, and ever since, I had instabilities when playing games (despite haven't done any overclocking). The PC just freezes and restarts, without any BSOD or anything else when I'm a few minutes in the game. I never had such issues when doing normal office work. However up to now I didn't really have time to have a look, nor play any games. Time is better now, so I took a look at the issue, and at the moment I'm a bit lost.

I tried to reproduce the issue outside of gaming via AIDA64 Stress Tests. I was somewhat successfull in a way, that when I run a test with CPU, FPU, cache and system memory enabled, it usually gives some BSOD (usually a Hypervisor one with bugcheck code 20001, but I also got others). If I run only one of these tests, I wasn't able to produce any crashes.

Using this as basis, I tried the following up to now:
  1. Update BIOS
  2. Update Device Drivers
  3. Run Memtest -> All good
  4. Run Intes Processor Diagnostic Tool -> All good
  5. Do a fresh setup on another disc
  6. Do a fresh setup on the same disc
  7. Remove one of the Memory Sticks and rerun the tests
  8. Switch to the other and do the same
Unfortunately still no luck with that issue.
From a temperature perspective according to what I found out everything runs within it's parameters.
So now I'm a bit stuck with ideas on what else to try (apart from throwing it out of the window) and hope you guys might find something enlightening in the log files (I tried to look into them myself, but I'm not so much smarter yet :)).

I'm currently on Windows 11 Version 34H2 (OS Build 26100.2033).
Here you can download the output of the log collectore V2 -> STONEBIG-(2024-10-09_23-35-23).zip

Thanks in advance for your help!

I can't analyze log files but while someone is looking at your logs one thing pops out to me. You are running a really old graphics driver.
Since graphics is one of the major causes of crashes, I would start there. It may not be your problem but it needs to be updated anyway.
Go here and download the newest driver dated 10/1/24 and save it. https://www.amd.com/en/support/down...radeon-rx-6000-series/amd-radeon-rx-6800.html

Download DDU. It's a standalone app Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) download version 18.0.8.1

How to use DDU How to use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) Guide / Tutorial

Run DDU in safe mode to delete both the AMD Radeon gpu driver AND its software.

Boot back into normal mode and install the new driver package you downloaded.

Hi,

thx @glasskuter and @abactuon for having a quick look. I did reinstall the graphics driver as advised. Unfortunately that didn't really help. Same behaviour as before.
The post of @abactuon made me think about if it really might be a game related issue. Given that I tried to play Borderlands 3 a bit, which didn't result in a crash.
However, given the fact, that I could produce a crash by running AIDA64 tests, indicates at least that someting might also be wrong with the machine itself, which is not related to the game. Also I couldn't find any known issues like that for this game and I think, apart of the instability when testing the system should be fine to run it.
I'll try another game to see if that one also run's fine and report back. Also I'll get in touch with the game devs, as it's an early access game and see if they can figure out what happened.

Anyway, would be great if someone could have a look at the logs, to see what really crashed.

Thx

Hi,

thx @zbook for having a look. Actually, according to the settings the link should be one without login. Could you finally access the files?

1-4 and 6 done. The Tune Up logs and Benchmark Results are uploaded to the shared folder (I shared the folder now, hopefully that works better) -> LogShare

For 5 I'll see when I can run that, but hopefully I can manage it within the next few days. I'll post an update once done.

What program do you use to control your fans? Armoury Crate with your Fan Xpert? Fan Control? See es in Event Viewer\System -> Do you have any “warning” “!” in yellow that refers to “: The inserted controller (EC) returned data when nothing was requested. The BIOS must be trying to access the EC without executing...” if you have something like that, it makes your mouse crash quickly and is followed by a reset without BSOD, without recording Events, without anything, I spent the last 45 days in a nightmare with something like that, I changed SSD, m.2 and nothing, when I was one step away from changing the power supply and MB, I used the old Fan Control (V194) without updating and I worked for 3 days without resets, I lost clients, jobs, 5 kilos due to stress and I had to go to a cardiologist... :cautious:

@zbook I've added the latest V2 Log Output after the 3h prim95 test to the shared folder.

The test ran for a bit over 3h. When I stopped the workers, the PC unfortunately freezed and I had to manually restart it. That led to a BSOD with the Stop Code Hypervisor Error. Another restart brought me back up.

So I hove no screenshots of the results, but the temp went up to 100° and then it started to throttle to keep it at that temperature or a bit below.
If you want I can do another run and try to capture the data there.
What to do with the Win11 ISO once downloaded?

@3DG I'm basically letting Fan Xpert do it's thing. I didn't install armoury crate on the latest reinstall of the graphics driver to rule out issues with it. And as it anyway didn't provide the most recent drivers it's not really of value for me.
The Event Viewer doesn't have such related warnings in it.

I'm still going to insist on it.

1. install .NET 8.0 -> windowsdesktop-runtime-8.0.10-win-x64.exe

2. Perform a clean installation of Fan Control V206 -> FanControl_206_net_8_0_Installer.exe

3. Copy your curve settings to Configurations\ userConfig.json + CACHE

4. Configure in Configs that way:
FC.png

5. Fix your Windows, connected to the internet run this command with CMD elevated:
sfc /scannow && dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Everything will be fine! Good luck!

@3DG thanks for that! I will consider that as option for sure. For now I want to go step by step to not mess up too much at once :D.

@zbook I just uploaded the screenshots as it survived the stop of the second run :D. For the sake of completeness, I also created another V2 Log Zip and uploaded it.

I also downloaded the win11 ISO, but I'm still not sure what to do with it ...

@zbook I have to rerun it then. Just out of curiosity. What info are you missing on the current ones? Because essentially my Prime95 screen has just title bars if I do it like that. I guess that won't help too much.

For each test the software creates image or text results.

The image results display start to completion times and Temperature max.
