Good morning all,

I have a question for anyone who uses/used T-Mobile Home Internet.

We currently have a G4SE (white box) that is placed in a good location and currently has a Good-Very Good signal.

Attached is a current screenshot from the HINT app and my personal system specs are detailed below. (I've attempted to block out any identifying info -- please let me know if I missed something).

While my download speeds are good (100-300Mbps -- this morning 195Mbps), the upload speed is an absolutely abysmal 4Mbps. This does make streaming and uploading videos bit difficult. I would be happy with around 20Mbps, which I do get on rare occasions.

Is there anything I can do to improve this without spending any money? We are moving eventually so this connection will not last. I would rather not buy an antenna since I have no idea what our internet provider will be when we move or if the antenna will be of any use or even needed.

I was thinking about turning off the 5G band, but I'm not sure if that will help any or how to easily do that and if necessary turn it back on again if there was no change.

Thanks in advance for any ideas/advice.

I would sugget you call T-Mobile tech support. They have been very nice to deal with and helpful every time I've called on behalf of my sister.

here is the manual for your router
on page 13 it shows you how you can set two different networks
2.4G or 5G and combined. it maybe worth testing each.

best of luck Steve ..
The web app has changed since the manual was printed -- there is no way to create networks via the web interface. I do have the T-Life app, but it's a bit confusing.

I've called twice and the only thing they suggest is move the modem to a different location. It's already in the best spot that I have access to in the house.

There's not much you can do to affect your upload speeds that do not also affect your download. They are coming from the same tower. If you're consistently over 100Mb/s on your download, you're doing fairly well. Up here, if I step outside I can get almost 500Mb/s on my phone, but the upload is a measly 10 maybe 20Mb's if I stand with one leg in the air. In the house it is more like 20 down and 1 or 2 up. ;-) Tower capacity is also a major factor in your speeds that you have no control over. If you know of other customers in the area, you could ask them what their speeds are.T-Mobile has an external antenna for some of their modems depending upon model. Maybe you can talk them into sending you one.

That's kind of what I was afraid of - that there would be nothing I could do.

I will ask if there is an external antenna that they can send....thanks for the idea.

Haven't tried asking about a different SIM, will have to do that one....thanks.
