Solved Tabs in File Explorer

Well, this is stupid...,
doesn't matter what tab you're on, clicking on + Add new tab simply opens a duplicate of the farthest right tab, over and over... 🤷‍♂️

It is still experimental and very buggy

Tried that and this is the result
"temp 2" is the folder containing
the files Albacore.WiVe.dll & ViVeTool.exe
I don't know what folder path the OP's got goin there, but it doesn't look right!
The Vive folder has to reside on C: or it won't work.

I'm going to wait until MS decides to release it for testing. Until then I'm happy with the MS Store app Files.

I've never really thought much about the files app in MS store. Just grabbed it and thought why I didn't grab it ages ago, it's a revelation over the native one

ViveTool GUI is absolutely a thing now.
GitHub - PeterStrick/ViVeTool-GUI: Windows Feature Control GUI based on ViVe / ViVeTool

But i would stick with regular ViveTool for time being...your syntax failed bc you tried to change directory to two different drives, or if the folder name is D then : can't be part of it as : is an invalid character for naming things. Just grab regular ViveTool Release ViveTool v0.2.1 · thebookisclosed/ViVe and extract it wherever you want...mine is in my downloads folder.

ECRK7HT.png

Now open cmd (or terminal) as admin and cd to the directory with vivetool in it....and then add the config command for the feature you want.

Reboot and you should now have tabs...restarting explorer didn't work for me, had to reboot for them to show up.

Every time I think about this, I find myself shaking my head. While MS is more concerned about new emojis and desktop stickers, 3rd party software companies are providing us with the software to help us make Windows 11 the way we want it. We have a saying at work, There's something wrong with this picture. :)

I saw that earlier today when I was looking up the latest release of ViveTool. I wonder if it's upto date or a few versions behind.

Tabs are finally coming to Window 11 File Explorer.
Well the Insider evidence does not support this. It is nowhere to be seen in last couple of builds Article is based on speculation as it was seen briefly in a Dev build. MS clearly state features in Dev may not see it to Release.

As Beta and Dev are aligned at the moment, and no sign of tabs, the logical conclusion is tabs will not be in next release unless MS surprise us.

You may be right, but there are numerous articles making the claim. I guess time will tell.

An excerpt from the following article.
Tabs in File Explorer: This is a hidden feature in the latest Windows 11 Insider builds, but Microsoft made it official today. File Explorer tabs have been a popular request, and they should really make it easier to multitask.
