Dear Community,

after searching the internet and asking ChatGPT, I still did not find an answer to my Problem. So here I am, hoping for you help.

I have a completely new Laptop with Windows 11 Home. So, it should be as clean as possible. But there is a Problem with the Task-Bar Programs.

Sometimes, when I want to open a allready running Program-Window using the Windows - Preview to get it to the front, it doesnt work. I put the curser on the programm icon in the taskbar, the preview-windows open, I click on one of the preview Windows --> It stays with the window open before and doesnt open the selected preview window.

I can not really identify, when specificly that is happening, like 80% of the time it works normal. But normaly, when I then just once click on the opened windows to have it "selected" and then click on the preview Windows, it opens correctly. So, selecting the already opened window first and THEN changing to a new windows, works.
It seems to have something to do as well with big screen windows, where this problem accures more often.

I know, it may seem like a tiny thing, but if that happens every 5th time you are clicking, it really disturbes your workflow. I am sorry that I cannot describe it more exactly, because I am cannot really identify when EXACTLY this is happening.

Really hoping for help! Thank you!
Michael

Welcome to the forum, Michael. I gotta admit this is a new one for me and TBH, I'm fishing. Do this for me. Open 2 instances of file explorer, then minimize both. If you hover over the file explorer icon in taskbar, the 2 small windows pop up. Don't click on either one. Just drag your mouse or touchpad pointer from window to window, side to side. Do you see the full window of each file explorer instance change on your screen as you drag your pointer?

Also, is this happening only when you have multiple windows minimized to the taskbar for one particular application or all applications?.

Are you running ANY third party app that alters the GUI? If so uninstall it and restart and test. with the native taskbar.

I think this has become an occasional, random issue for many (including me) in recent months:

It applies to all the programs, but not all the time. Depending on unknown circumstances, it works either for all or for none of the programs.
