I hear you, brother. For me, a new system board means a new platform which leads to a pile of other new things. By the time I have all that sorted out I'm looking at paying thousands upon thousands if I am to move up from what I already have. I got my CPU directly from Intel and at the time of sale it was over $2K in Canada with many retailers. It took a lot of wrangling to get it over the border but eventually Intel complied. * Long story *

But fear not. Something even more exciting is on the way, compliments of GOOGLE and TPM, that is likely to put this matter on kindergarten status. Oh, yeah... You just gotta luv TPM!

Same here @TraderGary.

Since I teach Windows 11 at the Senior Activity Center, I'd really be opening a can of worms if I tried to include teaching all that third party stuff.

Early on in Windows 10, I made a conscious effort to learn everything in Settings, and it's working just fine for me.

I mean it's not that I "hate" Windows 11. I've stated numerous times already that I prefer it over Win 10. I've also stated that it nearly impressed me. I have high standards. Alas, they pulled their typical signature tactic and found a way to compromise another otherwise beautiful thing. Why they keep doing this is anyone's guess. Do you suppose it has something to do with money?

Wow. I'd better go check my aluminum foil supply. Imagine that... money.

The rest of us recognise reality. I do not love or hate MS - they are a commercial company not a charity.

If you do not like MS products, don't use them (nobody is forcing you) but for crikes sake stop whinging like a child who has had all his sweeties taken away.

Don't assume that you speak for everyone. You definitely do not speak for me. I have no hatred for Microsoft. I like Microsoft and I like Windows 11. I have no problems using Windows 11 Pro on my two computers.

Oh, relax. If you don't like my rhetoric you don't have to read it. I think this is a reasonably open forum where we can all respectfully express our opinions. I hardly suggested that MS should be a charity. In fact, I thought I stated quite the opposite. For this, you want to troll me? Nobody is forcing you to read my posts either. I merely suggested that the motive behind the means is money. No need to get your panties in a bunch. You are as free to your views as I am to mine. Many of the "rest of us", as you so succinctly put it, have made the same observations I have. That you would resort to such playground antics as excluding me from the so called "rest of us" is little more than typical bullying. I addressed an issue and called it "the Windows 11 Thing" because so many others in this forum have been addressing the same issue. In fact, a great number of the rest of us have been addressing this issue. I'm quite certain that none of us are out of touch with reality for this. TPM is real and the compatibility thing is real. Speaking figuratively is also part of reality and you can best believe that some of us love to hate things about Windows and others hate to love things about it. This is only human. Denying that one is not in a client relationship with Windows when they are a Windows user won't change this reality. Some of us hate it. Some of us love it. Some of us experience both. This is not a rare thing.

Okay, I'll try not to make that assumption. I was being figurative, however. If there is nothing that you have ever disliked about Windows I'd say that would put you in the minority of users. By all means, please forgive my indiscretion. I'll try not to let it happen again.

Well, children, I learned to dislike Microsoft and its business practices, back when Bill Gates was still in charge. I didn't like him then and he's gotten worse since then. His own wife found out what he was all about and left him.
Unfortunately there is still a lot of Bill Gates in the way that Microsoft does business. And don't be fooled, he's still making money off of it too.

Windows 11 is OK, it's just the corrupt corporation behind it, that I don't like.
And I proudly operate Windows without TMP, MS Accounts, lic's, keys, passwords and all that BS.

And anyone wanting to bad mouth me, or belittle me for my views, can just go to that same HOT place reserved for people like Bill Gates.
No lic. or password required.
