Total Storage in Windows "System" is inaccurate.

I have totalled the storage via calculator from list disk in CMD and the numbers do not match. At first I thought it was perhaps because of certain external hard drives (normally only turned on when required) that this discrepancy resulted. Howbeit, even with these removed, leaving only 22 disks present on the system, the totals don't match. 85.668 vs 59.37 Any ideas?

Good guess but no. Even when I "add back" (turn on the externals) the extra storage doesn't register. It is as though nothing new was added. The 59.37 is stuck at that number.

The 20TB drive (actually 22TB) in the picture (See: Disk 19) is an external drive so that makes sense. I might have to check this by adding more onboard storage.

Okay, I'm getting mixed messages here. SATA connections definitely register storage devices. Further research (online) suggests that System>About>Storage is supposed to include external storage. Not sure what to believe anymore. Anyone have any ideas on an app that actually shows TOTAL storage on a PC including external drives?? Does such a thing even exist?

For simplicity's sake: Letters "S", "T", "V" are the externals I only turn on when making back ups. "X" and "Y" are reserved for USB ports. The system runs 36 logical drives.

Oh, it's not really a big deal per se. In fact, I mentioned that in the Chillout Room when I made a casual comment on what I was doing. It was later suggested that I bring it to the forefront for further scrutiny. I just find it interesting that I can't seem to get a real time total on storage capacity and I wondered if there were a way to get that.

Yes. I see that now. Unfortunately it does just as your picture suggests. It doesn't generate a storage sum total of all the drive capacity currently running on the PC as far as I can tell. Windows>System>About comes close but does not seem to include external drives.

Added up, the THREE drives in Diskpart come to... 11,643GB or 11.64 TB

And...11,640,000,000,000 divided by 1024 = 11,367,187,500 which rounds up to... 11,370,000,000
And when 11,370,000,000 is multiplied by 1000, you get... 11.370,000,000,000 or 11.37TB

The 32MB Disk is a virtual disk created by Bitdefender.

Yes, I did something similar with calculator on this thread. That's when I discovered the discrepancy. Looking at WinDirStat atm. Rather comprehensive. Still can't find that total I'm looking for though.

Or... you have drives Diskpart is including, but System > About is not including.
Which can happen when you have 22 frickin' drives which may or may not really be 20 drives. LOL

So my idea is that you need to get a new game or something, so you don't spend your time worrying about silly stuff like this.

85.688 - 59.37 = 26,318
So you have a 26.32 discrepancy.
So you need to find what disk or disks (in diskpart), is giving you a 26.32TB discrepancy.

Interesting thing I noticed. 3 x 9TB = 27TB, and I've never heard of 9TB disks.
PCPartpicker, in the storage section, won't even let me choose 9000GB.
It jumps straight from 8000GB to 10000GB

ALSO... in your pic in post #9, I see 4 RAID disks.

Maybe you left a 26.32TB Bluray disc in the BD player. (j/k ofc)
