I turned the TPM in my BIOS and all is well, Win 11 installed and no problems but, and this is the bit I dont understand, I have a TMP header on my M/B so if its activated in the BIOS I am guessing that its an onboard chip if it is why the header?
My M/B is a Prime Z490-P and my CPU is an Intel Core i7 10700.

I have no experience with this.

However, I believe if you're using drive encryption (Bitlocker), and something happens to the MB, then the data are lost. A discrete TPM could be moved to a new motherboard.

All you needed to do was Turn your TPM on in your bios, you don't need the actual Physical chip installed .

My M/B is a Prime Z490-P and my CPU is an Intel Core i7 10700.

There are multiple types of TPM.

Your motherboard (and mine as well) have both firmwareTPM as well as the option to add a hardware TPM Module to the motherboard.

My M/B is a Prime Z490-P and my CPU is an Intel Core i7 10700.

That was what worried me when I bought MSI motherboard with Intel H510M chipset. I found TPM header on it. Things came up to my mind, why only a header? Do I still have to buy separate TP Modul?
Later when I run BIOS everything was there.

The TPM header turn out to be additional.

Well, I follow You tube and the guy from Canada:
, says that when it comes down to it we who do not have TPM2 and other requirements will be shut down one way or another. I have worked with Windows 11 long enough to know they are not going to let us work with our dated machines. So, I am going back to Windows 10, sorry if I disappoint anyone here. I plan on saving up and buying a proper machine, hopefully with Windows 11 installed by Christmas.

what you are using is an fTPM (firmware TPM) which is a "software" TPM encoded into the BIOS. The header is for the hardware TPM. You can use one or the other for Win 11 purposes.
