Oops.
Try uninstall Avast. Reboot. Run Windows update.

I just turned protection off for a few mins, but it makes no difference. I will just hide the update if there is no solution.

If you dont want to try with an uninstall , its a good idea as you already have an antivirus.

Okay, we've established that the update doesn't seem to be installed at all on your system which would explain why Windows Update is repeatedly offering that same update. The issue is why isn't the update actually installing? Could you please provide all the logs in the %systemroot%\Logs\CBS folder?

With avast turned off, what happens if you open windows defender > virus and threat protection > protection updates > check for updates.

I think windows defender cannot be used unless the other antivirus is uninstalled. I think turning it off will not be enough, but its worth a try. Otherwise I think the only option you will be offered is periodic scanning.

As far as I am aware, updates for defender will not be installed if it is disabled via another antivirus being installed.

The Defender issue is solved, only issue is now with that KB5007651 update.

OK, so my issue now isn't the Win Defender Update, it's that pesky KB5007651 (Version 1.0.2402.27001). It installs every day and I've already done all of the suggested steps numerous times. I will try to Reset WinUpdate, but everything else doesn't solve this problem.

There's a crapload of entries, I don't think you want to go through all of them.

What is intriguing about this whole situation is that @asturias7 mentioned manually installing the update - and yet it still thinks it is not there.

@asturias7 - you could try manually installing it again, and then checking to see if the system sees it as installed or not - perhaps the repeat attempts at installation keep removing whatever is installed for that KB?

Doing this would have an additional benefit, in that you could take the machine completely offline, and thus also completely disable Avast for the installation, thereby eliminating Avast as a possible problem as well.

Could you please provide all the CBS logs including the ones which have "persist" in their name? The CBS log has a size cap which when reached causes the previous logs to be renamed *persist.log.

Absolutely nothing, it simply no longer shows up.

@x BlueRobot scroll up a few posts, I already provided it. Anyhow, like I said it resolved on its own and no longer shows up.
