UEFI BOOT TAKES 15 MINUTES

Welcome to ASUS :eyeroll::crys::steam:

Try disconnecting all USB devices (except keyboard and mouse). I'm betting that will make the issue magically disappear. I'm also betting that there is lag/stuttering when editing BIOS settings: Same issue; same solution.
Methinks that person bailed the moment my solution solved their issue.

Outlaws... gotta love 'em. This issue never reaches Windows. This problem is BIOS. I hope that helps. :-)

It's a USB issue. It's so bad that I can reproduce it. A theory I have, based on nothing scientific at all, is that, given there is no longer a dedicated USB BIOS update interface, the MB tries to 'read' anything that's plugged in to a USB port. This causes the huge hang at startup, and also causes terrible lag and stuttering when navigating the UEFI settings. The cursor freezes every 0.8 seconds, making moving it to a specific location extremely difficult.

To be clear, I do not have this issue, because I fixed it myself, so I do not need a solution. I posted here to help the original poster, and because I could not find this solution anywhere else online. I had to basically stumble upon it myself.

My Mates Gigabyte board occasionally tries to read any and all disks and USB drives plugged in... looking for a bootable partition... there's only one bootable disk!! but I have to go over wag my finger at it and remove all the extra disks it found and added to boot menu! Boot time now back to 12 secs (y)
