Solved Unable delete folders

Hi

I have just bought a new laptop. It came with Windows11 and I am hating it! For instance, in Windows10 from "This PC" I got 7 folders (Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Music, Pictures, etc).

I have been trying to copy data across from the old laptop to the new with great difficulty, first because the drive USB pen drive 3.0 seems to disappear... but the main problem I am trying to solve now is that I have duplicate folders in the equivalkent of "This PC" and can't delete them! I also have an empty folder that belongs to the pen drive (Wod Files). Can you help, please?

You probably can't delete these folders because of onedrive. You need to check the default location of your user folders for documents, desktop, and pictures. To do this, right click on folder, select properties, location tab.
If onedrive is in the folder path, none of your files in these folders are stored on your computer but are being stored in the cloud automatically if one uses a Microsoft account. This is a shock to users who do not realize it. Depending on the number of files one has, the 5 gb of free onedrive space gets used up quickly and the user has to buy additional onedrive storage. If you do not want your files stored in the cloud, report back and we can give you instructions on how to move them back to your C: drive

Copying folders you had backed up has only exacerbated the problem until you get your default folder location straightened out..

Thank you. Now it explains why as soon as I started the brand new computer a whole load of files migrated to the laptop. I hate the way MS takes over your life! Yes, I would like to get rid of all these automatic MS add-ons
Let's start with OneDrive. How can I get rid of it forever and the same with Edge that keeps popping up, despite having disabled it at start up!

Meanwhile. I managed to delete one of the files mentioned in my opening post, but not the "WodFiles" It is the name of the folder in the pen drive from which I copied. The pen drive is no longer attached and it was disconnected when it was "safe" to do so

The easiest way to permanently remove OneDrive or any other Windows App, is to use REVO Uninstaller (free).





At the top left, REVO has a Uninstaller tab and a Windows Apps tab. All the Windows Apps are under the Windows Apps tab.
DON'T remove EDGE, just block it in your firewall, if you don't plan on using it.

If you mean those folders in the navigation pane of File Explorer, then you should be able to unpin them from Quick access to remove them like below.

I had a look at the firewall. Seems to have been taken over by McAffee. Another app I want to get rid of but not just yet
