Unable to change folders' icon with .ico images (Windows 11 24H2)

Hi everyone !

Since I installed the update for Windows 11 24H2 version, all my customized icons got removed. I had no problem changing the shortcuts and bin icon (system - personnalization - theme - icons) but I just can't seem to be able to change my folders' icons ! I used to change them by doing right click - properties - customize - change icon - apply and ok. It works with the pre existant icons on the list, but not with my .ico images..

I made sure I had full control permissions, and I cleaned the thumbnail cache :/

What can I do ? Thank you so much !!

Is it possible that the paths to the icons are broken?

I, in some cases, put the .ico right inside the pertaining folder and Super-Hide it...

Although, in most cases a huge undertaking..., music folders are great with custom folder icons.
Just make sure you create a multi layered .ico, put it in the folder, apply it, then fill the folder.

You can always create a desktop.ini file in the directory and specify the path to the icon in it.

FWIW, I change folder icons all the time with Win 11 Pro, and all my icon files are in one folder under Documents. I've never seen any issue changing the icon for files or folders in Win11 or Win10.

I have been importing this same folder into new installs since WIN7 or older, because it consolidates dozens of links and batch files that I use every day.
It's odd that only one folder, the old Favorites folder is what glitched from a resent update, all the icons still work but their images are a white blank icon. Even more confusing it's not every icon just most of them. Not really sure why the issue is unique to only the "Favorites Folder", I guess I will just make a new one with lots of plain old yellow icons.
