Solved Unable to install update (KB5018418)

Interesting that your update was from 21H2 to 22H2 via automatic updates. I am only getting KB5018418 as the updates available and I've had to hide it and prevent it from installing because it fails. I may try an in-place upgrade with manual 22H2 download from MS to see if something changed.
Good luck hope you get it sorted

I have made a full backup so i can get back to this install if something goes wrong later

For what it's worth. All good now on my end. Update is officially gone. I'm still going to say that it was just a "stuck" update that either installed but didn't clear out or was superseded by another bigger update and KB5018418 just stayed in the list for some damn reason. At any rate, for those still having trouble I posted what I did. Whatever happened it must have jogged something loose and now everything is running smooth. 😎

PS: Congrats, Summer02! ☮️👍

I saw your steps and I am assuming that you ran the .bat file before installing the update. I've done those before but my problem is the spinning wheel forever after restart. It happens with Cum Updates as well as a full upgrade. Bizarre and I can't figure out what's causing it.

Have you found a solution for this yet? I have been seeing the same issue with one of my Windows 10 PCs since October 12th. Tried everything you have as well. Even in-place upgrades don't work and end up on the spinning dots of death.

Nothing yet, that works. So I took a blank SSD and did a complete new install and reinstalled all the apps. I kept the old drive with the problem and play around with it to see if I can narrow the cause. Has to be some compatibility issue with bios/drivers that's not allowing to complete the update. A clean install is not really a fix but that turned out to be the fastest solution after spending countless hours troubleshooting. Sucks that Microsoft introduced something in August that screwed up future updates on countless machines out there.
