Solved Undeletable & can't be found:-

I have been using a program called Wipefile. It is not in both Program files on C; Drive, Everything, Swift Search and Revo Uninstaller can't find it.
It does not show in Programs and Features from Control Panel. It shows in Context Menu but that's all, when clicked nothing happens.

It may be a Web-based program. Right-click it and check Properties, should give a location/path.

I made a new folder and named it P. This is what happened on right clicking Wipefile.

Did you use the Wipefile link? It can be portable or installed.

I was looking at the app. Seems to be quite old. There was also mention that it isn’t a real portable app. It’s not got a lot of info, hasn’t been updated as far as I can tell, since… who knows. I wouldn’t touch it. Seems unnecessary. It would also seem that the writers webpage is gone. No links I found to get information, worked.

Just to clarify. If a portable app has to call on Windows System Files (which apparently this app does) then it isn’t truly portable.

If you go to WipeFile for Windows - Free download and software reviews - CNET Download and download the zipped file it will give the info you need.

If you trust a site like download .cnet or Softonic, that’s fine. But personally I wouldn’t download an app or software that wasn’t directly available from the creator.

The fact that you’re having issues with it is enough to ward me off even trying it.

I’d possibly agree with Rollback Jockey in saying that the app was consumed as a threat. Did you check your AntiVirus logs?

I agree with @antspants. It's an obscure app from an unknown developer and it is portable. Per Lifewire website, WipeFile is no longer supported. The downloadable Wipefile portable app is the last version. There are others. Eraser is still supported as is Freeraser

I can not recommend any of them as I have no need to do any secure erase on my systems.

As far as Wipefile showing up in your context menu, there is a registry entry somewhere that has a broken link because it can not find your Wipefile.exe file to complete the function. Context menu items are USUALLY found in
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\EPP]
OR
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\EPP]

Maybe the program has magically disappeared but the context menu reg entry is still there

just had a look at puran permanent delete . It appears it can be run portably. The "installer" only adds start menu links and uninstall reg info.

can be run directly. Probably just the 995kb exe will do the job
