Are you the author of unhackme? I tried it and it might be useful if I ever get a rootkit, but I think Webroot will protect me.

You want Weboot SecureAnywhere Complete, not just the AV.

I can’t vouch for its quality.

But I dislike McAfee, Norton and others that are bloated. It slows down my OS.

My Fujitsu 17 inch which I bought some two years ago came pre-installed with McAfee with a 3-year anti-virus definition update warranty. It took ages for Windows to start up and slowed my OS down to a crawl.

I immediately did a fresh install offline just to get rid of it.

What impress me most about Webroot is how light it is and its scan speed.

I will certainly consider using it when I do my next install.

Currently, I have Avast One and Unhackme to protect me. I know it’s not much of a protection.

kelper, do you remember my mentioning that I had a BSOD when installing WinX Optimum on one of my machines?

Well, I finally figured out what caused it. It turned out the base filtering engine was infected with a malware.

This particular malware disabled my firewall and this in turn invited other malware into my system thus causing the BSOD.

Webroot does not fare well in the lab tests because it does not flag all malicious programs if they are latent. It springs into action when a program tries to modify the OS and other malicious actions. It has long been recommended by PC Magazine as an Editor's Choice.
Installing and running its first scan takes under five minutes. Its main folder is 100MB and its cache, WRData is about 2GB on my system but it can be deleted by uninstalling and reinstalling Webroot. This take about 5 minutes.. This is where it journals any program that might be malicious.
I've just done this and WRData is now 6MB.
