This tutorial will show you how to uninstall or reinstall widgets for your account or all users in Windows 11.

Widgets in Windows are interactive elements that display dynamic content and provide quick access to various apps and features. You can view your location's current weather conditions directly on the taskbar and hover over the icon to see concise, scannable information on topics like sports, stocks, local news, and breaking headlines. Widgets are designed to help you staying informed and organized by presenting personalized information at a glance.

Widgets are displayed on the Widgets board, which contains a collection of cards, each representing a widget with relevant information and actions related to an app. On the Widgets board you can discover, pin, unpin, arrange, resize, and customize widgets to reflect your interests.

Done, but capitalization doesn't matter for the command. :shawn:

Are you saying that Winget has re-installed itself?
It might be that with new Windows updates and versions it has.
Repeat the procedure to see if takes care of your issue.

Yes, apparently it got re-installed. I had to install MS application installer to getwinget to uninstall widgets again and then uninstall winget. So, I had to repeat this procedure second time. This is very annoying doing this repeatedly.

This fix appeared to work, but it also pinned unwanted widgets. When I removed them, it stopped working again, so I redid your process, with the same result, but this time I left the additional widgets, and then a couple of minutes later it stopped working again. For some reason, it allows certain widgets: Countdown, Focus session, Phone link, Photos, Timer, and Tips, but when attempting to pin others: Instant play, Sports, Traffic, Watchlist, and Weather, I receive the message "Unable to pin [widget name] at this time. Try again later." So next I clicked the refresh icon at the upper right of the widget window and received the message: "Service disruption. Unable to show personalized widgets and content at this time. Try again later." I have no idea what to try next. I guess when all else fails try contacting Microsoft, but every time I do that, they tell me to reinstall Windows and all my apps! Idiots!

Option Three: uninstall Widgets for ALL users
In Option One, Step 2, substitute winget uninstall "Windows web experience Pack" with this command:
Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers -Name MicrosoftWindows.Client.WebExperience -Publisher "CN=Microsoft Windows, O=Microsoft Corporation, L=Redmond, S=Washington, C=US" | Remove-AppxPackage -AllUsers -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue

Also note, unlike this method AFAIK, the winget method to uninstall the package requires an internet connection. If you only want to uninstall the package for the user currently logged in to Windows, but internet is unavailable so the winget method doesn't work, then you should still be able to do it by removing the -Allusers part from the command above.

Get-AppxPackage -Name MicrosoftWindows.Client.WebExperience | Remove-AppxPackage

Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers -Name MicrosoftWindows.Client.WebExperience | Remove-AppxPackage -AllUsers
