this folder is constantly showing up on my desktop. plug in my phone, it's there. mount an ISO, it's there. it can't be deleted. the only thing that makes it go away is restarting the computer. anybody know how to prevent this folder from appearing on my desktop?

Not really! There's a Reg Key that points to that Ghost Folder, that some have suggested to delete, but, it'll just get re-created next time you plug your phone in! It's been a quirk in the system for years! 🤷‍♂️

If it only appears when you plug in a phone or mount an iso then it isn't "constantly showing up". I think that what you are saying is that the folder remains after unplugging phone or unmounting an ISO and only disappears after the computer has been restarted. As @Edwin says it's a quirk.

The only thing I can think of to reduce your frustration is to try to reduce the number of times you plug phones in or mount ISOs. Maybe a future Windows update will stop it happening. Good luck.
