Upgrading to Windows 11 - is fTPM good enough? Windows Update saying PC not metting minimum requirements for Win 11

Motherboard is an X670E PG Lightning which supports fTPM which is currently disabled. My understanding is Windows 11 generally requires TPM 2.0 to be enabled. Will fTPM on this motherboard be sufficient for a proper Windows 11 upgrade?

Edit: Check post number 3. Enabled fTPM though still seems like my PC is not meeting the minimum requirements. Any help appreciated.

Enabled it in BIOS. Under Advanced / CPU Configuration - AMD fTPM Switch (set to AMD CPU fTPM).


Rebooted, and ran the WhyNotWin11 (recommended in another thread I made a few months back). For some reason still shows TPM as not ready. Is this safe to ignore?

I'm not familiar with AsRock BIOS settings, but it should be working.
I'm off to bed right now, but I would make sure you have the latest BIOS and chipset drivers running.

IF, for some reason your system isn't compatible, which it should be... you can still run Windows 11.

Your hardware specs, say you "should have everything you need.

I'm running fTPM on a system older than yours, and it's working fine.

Just updated the chipset drivers off of the AMD website, will restart and see if that changes anything.

Edit: Just restarted after updating the chipset drivers, no change so far. Any other suggestions to try would be appreciated.

According to the video, Secure Boot Mode needs to be set to Standard instead of Custom. I selected Standard:

Though the issue still persists, both Windows Update & WhyNotWin11 seems to think TPM is not enabled.

In the registry in Windows, see if setting "START" to 1 makes a difference. You can change it back again if you would like or need to.

Navigate in the registry to:

If you want to upgrade Windows 10 PC to Windows 11 on unsupported hardware, you can do it with Flyby11 software.


For older Windows 10 PCs, Flyby11 could be the answer to upgrading to Windows 11 even if you don’t meet all the requirements.

Going to do an upgrade. Will look into Flyby11 if running the Win 11 installer gives issues. Though my hardware should be new enough to support Win 11.

Under Windows Update, do you get anything helpful by choosing "learn more"?

I suppose you could have apps or drivers that are blocking the update.

It's what I would have tried.

What fTPM version is it?
Windows expects to see TPM2.0 for Microsoft to deem it Windows 11 24H2 ready. At least that is how I understand it.

In the BIOS it is "AMD CPU fTPM". Where else can I check and see version?


Edit: Trusted Platform Module after running tpm.msc shows:

AI gave me a few options to check a fTPM version but as I don't have it, none of the options gave me a result when testing, obviously (However I thought I did, must check my BIOS.)
