It Depends on what you use the VM(s) for --I often merely use the HOST for VM storage pool and some media sharing while I do a lot of actual work on the VM's so although I do have one or two are for testing.

I have some actual "Productive" sets where I need them to be robust and stable - for example I have an XP VM which creates bespoke Vinyls for people - the vinyl cutting machine only works on XP so I need that to be fully functioning -- if that breaks I lose customers !!!!!!! That machine will definitely outlast me !!! -- beautifullyand solidly built unlike some modern equipment and for the volumes I create it's perfectly fast enough. A modern one would cost a few 1000 dollars, probably look a bit plasticcy and wouldn't give any improvement other than it probably would work on W10.

I suspect that most here use VM's as a sort of "Toy" but out in the real world VM's are hugely used -- typical example - those that have their own domains hosted on cloud servers, or if you have installed some business e-commerce apps. Some stock exchange trading platforms while the front end GUI runs on Windows the back ends are often on VM's.

I've have used a VM as my main system for almost a year now, first on 10 and now on 11. I haven't had any regrets or serious issues. I have had to do a couple of restores when I did something stupid. but even those went well.

Both. Three upgrades from W10 and one clean install. All with no problems.
