Can it be loaded from a zip file? (Is there a portable version?) I hate installing utilities that might not be good long-term.
I simply downloaded the msixbundle from the StoreGenerator..., install/uninstall it at will! Doesn't Library anything.

Very recently I found the new PowerToys's run feature(I knew the tool before but never used it - In the good old days I was using old powertoys on XP. I wish I could go back).

One feature which might be relevant to current discussion is Alt+Space aka PowerToys Run utility for Windows

Install it as shown below,
Powershell:
winget install -h --id "Microsoft.PowerToys" --accept-source-agreements --accept-package-agreements

I do agree, start menu looks good to me but the functionality is simply broken. It is hard to find some of the programs these day :(

So I am starting to learn to use Alt+Space (which is actually not that bad).

For example, if you hold Alt and type 255 at the same time, you get a blank space (it is not the same as using the spacebar).
It is an actual -invisible- character from the old ISO character set, they are quite a few others.

No never the executables but their menu shortcuts.
In Edwin's case, he uses Alt and the number 4 together. (try it in notepad) to get the diamond symbol.

To get the spades symbol it's Alt and the number 6

You can't modify it while it's open, you need to go here C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs
or here %AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs
and then modify the shortcut's name there. (right click /rename)

alt+255 is a space.
alt+4 is a diamond, alt+6 is spades.
I am sorry but what would be the purpose of renaming all of them?
You want to rename some specific ones, let's say all of Office programs.
You rename them with the diamond, ♦Access, ♦Powerpoint, ♦Outlook...
And they will be grouped together in the menu, regardless of their alphabetical order.

It's a very intelligent option indeed.
Since I use W11's interface, a clean Start menu, without the 'Recommended' nonsense, reclaims wasted space
and is also a plus for me.

So does the "Back" button do anything, or is the... first page of the "normal" Start Menu completely gone?

So does the "Back" button do anything, or is the... first page of the Start Menu completely gone?
The Back button/Front page works, mine's just set to go to All Apps first, like in W10...

... the Front page is clean... (I don't do the pinning thing!)
