Can someone advise or point me in the right direction to sort out user desktop information. I installed Win 11 on a new build a couple of weeks ago and proceeded to install various bits of software that I have , games, administration, benchmarking etc. I then added my wife as a standard user but when I logged on to her account I saw that she too has all of this software showing when she only needs standard office stuff, Outlook, Word etc.

So I went about deleting the icons off her desktop but when I went back to my own (Administrator Account) they had gone from my desktop too??

Is there a way of removing stuff from her desktop that she doesn't need and more to the point, removing stuff that could mess stuff up if she runs it

It sounds like you deleted icons from the Public Desktop.
What you see on a user's Desktop is the combination of what's in their own Desktop folder & what's in the [normally hidden] Public Desktop folder - C:\Users\Public\Desktop.
Some people tidy up the Public Desktop every time they install something new. They only leave shortcuts in it if they are content for all users to see them.

Most normal applications are installed for all users unless the installation process says otherwise.
That does not mean that your wife would be able to run all those applications you mentioned, she's merely seeing shortcuts to them. She'd need an Admin account to run several of them.

To add, I only see the issue in one user trying to access another user's files in C:\Users\USERNAMEHERE where a Standard User, whether Local or Microsoft account, doesn't have ability make many changes.
