Want new ssd for my HP laptop

Hi

I have a relatively new HP W11 laptop. The SSD is 250; I would like to get 1TB. The fastest avail.

I know how to replace drives in my desktop (have built several from scratch), but have never ventured into laptop upgrades. I see this:


Then this:


Which actually looks like my desktop SSDs.

What to get here?

Here... just fill in the blanks, and Crucial will recommend a compatible SSD upgrade for you...




Side note: One of the reasons we ask folks to fill out their computer specs, is so we can answer questions like this.

"Relatively new HP W11 laptop" gives us nothing in regard to the information we would need to know to answer your question. It's like saying, "I have a fairly new car that I would like to get new tires for." We either need to know the exact model number of the laptop, or the exact model number of the SSD that is currently in it. The laptop may even have an empty slot for an SSD and you could add a second SSD to it rather than just upgrading the SSD already there.

It's actually 256, but that's ok.

Safe to assume there is only one slot?

Yes, it looks like it only has 1 M.2 slot.

Yes but, the Crucial analysis he posted are recommending a 2 TB nvme so, the question I asked
is for his personal taste/need.

And it is also recommending 1 TB, 500 GB, 4 TB, and 2 TB SSDs.

I would get one of these rather than crucial p5

Just be aware the computer only has a PCIe 3 M.2 slot, so you won't get PCIe 4 speeds from a PCIe 4 SSD. (4,000 MB/s max for PCIE 3 x4).
