Want to get rid of this weird account/user folder

Out of the interest, if you go to you file explorer and click show all folders, what do you see there?
In all honesty, if someone else doesn't know of a solution, it may well take another clean install. @Brink Can you advise this poster.

I mean on the left side of the file explorer if you right click there and choose show all folders, what do you see?

And funny you say that. I did just give up and decided to do another clean install, opted out from onedrive on install stage and the folder is there the second I load up for the first time

If you want you can try one more clean install. This time don't let the computer connect the the internet. When asked for your email type sometihing like nobody@noemail.com. And for the password something lke nopassword. this will get you passed the need to sign-in to your MS Account and you can choose any username you want. This will also install your user folders to your local drive and not on OneDrive. Once setup you can sign-in to your MS account if you want.

I don't see how it's connected to onedrive tbh. Folder name keeps changing way past the point of onedrive deletion and the name is always the same as my account name

I am not using onedrive at all, I fully deleted it and never enabled any sync. If I go to my onedrive it's just pure emptiness there.

I don't know what that folder is doing there and want to get rid of it, that's the problem. It's just very bizarre and nobody seems to know what that folder is. Because it's NOT my user folder, but it has same content inside of it.

I can kinda solve this problem by using local account instead and naming it something neutral, but I really would rather continue using my Microsoft account to sign in.
You can get al the benefits of using a Microsoft account, but still only have a local account.

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

This is my last solution that I can think of and you may have already tried it . (I'm not going to go back an read every post) Create a new user, give it admin rights and move all of your user data to it. once done and you know that all of your user datais there, delete the troubled user account. Other than this I'm out of ideas.

To say I am confused and not know what is going on is an understatement. Let me say this, as at this point these 3 things are all I know to be 100% true.

1. During a complete clean install, if one deletes all partitions and installs Windows on unallocated space, that wipes the hard drive completely clean removing all folders existing on the drive. If that is the way you installed Windows, and that weird folder came back during a clean install, it HAS TO BE associated with Onedrive in some form or another so it's got to have something to do with the way you are installing Windows. This is the correct method. There are screenshots for every step.
Clean Install Windows 11 Tutorial

2. It is not possible to install Windows 11 using a MS account without OneDrive.
If, during Windows clean install, one selects a MS account, your account is automatically connected to Onedrive. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. One CAN install with a MS account and then turn off Onedrive sync after Windows boots using this tutorial.
https://www.elevenforum.com/t/turn-on-or-off-onedrive-folder-backup-syncing-across-windows-11-devices.4321/
Even after you no longer sync your account to onedrive it still runs in the background. You can use task manager>startup apps to disable it running in the background unnecessarily. Some people completely uninstall onedrive but a windows update will eventually reinstall it. Therefore it makes more sense to just disable it.

3. If, during a clean install, one wants the computer to NOT be connected to Onedrive at all, the only way is to set up a Local user account. Step 21 of that tutorial gives one of the ways you can do that. Again it still runs in the background even though you are not signed in to it so disable it from autostarting.

Please check one more thing for me.

Go to onedrive on the web, login with your MS credentials. Are there ANY erroneous folders there, especially a folder named Rosti or Rostislav. If so, open the folder. Are all your personal folders duplicated within that folder as well as elsewhere within Onedrive? Log out of Onedrive on the web before closing the window. Sign in - Microsoft OneDrive

1. I 100% did a clean reinstall of window, not a single file was left, everything was completely wiped and reset. I chose option to wipe both windows drive and my other drives

2.

OneDrive is 100% gone from my PC and it's not running in the background and/or loading on startup

3. Like I said I did another clean install with local account and that folder is still there it's just has a name of my local account instead of my microsoft account.

To your last point my one drive folder is as clean as bed sheets after being washed and as clear as a summer sky. There is absolutely nothing there. Complete emptiness

I'm grasping at straws here, but did you try the method in step 16 of Brinks tutorial and set up with no internet connected rather than using the fake email method to bypass using a MS account?
If that doesn't make a difference, then I am completely stumped. Seeing such a folder after a clean install is a phenomenon I have never heard of or seen before and I have installed Windows 11 about 25 times now for other people. I can only assume MS has recently changed something in the installation process on the latest build.. Things like this intrigue me as I love to solve puzzles so I surely wish I was able to see it all for myself.

I'm really sorry I do not have any further suggestions for you. But if you find out where that folder has come from, please report back as I am very interested.

@hsehestedt Have you ever seen anything like this? Do you have any suggestions for this poster?

Surely it's been deployed to all systems if it's a new thing? I wonder if others have that folder too if they check for "show all folders" in their file explorer

Let me know if your device uses Home or Pro? I really want to see this for myself using the latest iso but right now I don't have a Windows 11 compatible system available as a test computer. Except for my own, all the other devices in my house are still on 10. I flagged Hsehestedt because he probably does.

@Gondawn, Thinking about this is driving me nuts. It dawned on me I hadn't asked 2 questions. Are you running the release build of 11 or an insider build?
Did you downnload your iso using the media creation tool or another method?

How do I check if it's release or insider build? I chose download from cloud or something like that on reinstall

If that is the case, you did not do a clean install of Windows but a reset. Did you choose remove everything option or keep my files option?
