Solved Web Browser Issues. Web Browsers not working but internet is working.


If you tried all those other things and you're still having issues. I'd suggest going ROGUE. Download Fire Fox and install it. Not sure why, but for some reason I did this on a finicky laptop and lo and behold all of a sudden GOOGLE snapped to attention. So I left the Fire Fox browser on the laptop and donated it as is. The girl says her laptop still works fine to this day. lol No more connection loss.

Have you tried uninstalling your web browsers? Remove all and any extensions?

If your Teams is working fine and other online apps are doing alright then it very likely is something more akin to what Dannydet suggested. My other thought is that it could be some crazy malware. Have tried DISM? DISM command to check for corruption | Difference between Scanhealth and Checkhealth

I've been hesitant to say this, but MacAfee has been known in the past to generate connection issues. I don't know how it works today but what I do know is that many AVS programs like to embed themselves in browsers and they will wreak havoc if not properly uninstalled. I would use REVO uninstaller to remove MacAfee and run with the native Windows AVS to see if that made a difference. After a clean uninstall of MacAfee I would run sfc /scannow as administrator in CMD followed by this: How To Use The DISM Restore Health Command To Repair Windows - MiniTool I would then try reinstalling my browser.

Modern Windows security products don't "embed" themselves in browsers. They're allowed to work at the kernel layer, and spy on disk and network traffic. What they can do is to abruptly cancel either (your Windows app stops running or hangs, or the network connection is terminated).

They will be specific clues returned by your browser to indicate "hey it wasn't my fault". If you have a firewall on your ISP router, it plays out in the same fashion. A common hallmark is it takes a while before the problem starts happening. A mis-configured network tends to fail immediately, and not change its mind later.

I thought of that too but I have no idea how "modern" that version is and McAfee isn't exactly a Windows product. AVG used to do the same and it was a real pain removing it from the browser at one point. A basic uninstall and reinstall would not fix it. The only way to remove it was with a registry edit. In this case the program was uninstalled and then reinstalled if I understand the matter correctly. Personally, if I caught McAfee messing with my kernel I'd be gearing to reinstall my OS without McAfee.

Gave Dell touch screen with Windows 11 to daughter and got me an OTVOC. Being a PC builder I own many desktop PCs as well. I am a father of five providing PCs, laptops, and tablets for all my family, most of which I have modified, rebuilt, or simply built from scratch. I do not own a cell phone, never have, never will.

Glad to hear you got it working! For the future, please try to go slow and change one thing at a time. Then, if the issue happens again, you will know what the precise fix is. It was likely McAfee (or one of its settings) but without controlled testing we don't know for sure.

It could have been something as simple as a browser update. My daughter was having problems with her browsers yesterday and updated her Google and FireFox. The issue was the same as yours. All her other online programs worked fine but her browsers refused to connect to the internet. After updating her browsers all was good.
