It does support both of those. Win11 24h2 is already on this machine

tpm2 is enabled in bios

supports secure boot but it is not on in bios

If it is complaining about the latter the message is clear as mud

I don't usually use setup.exe. Just gave it a whirl for fun

Sometimes when I check TPM2 status from within Windows, it tells me it's disabled, even though it isn't.
That may be part of the issue?

I will boot up simple pe, mount an iso and see what setup.exe says from there

It is ok from pe. It hasnt complained and got as far as searching for disks, which it displayed just after I took the screenie. I quit at that point

Where was the Windows ISO image obtained? Was it an ISO directly from Microsoft or was this an image that has any sort of updates injected into it?

The difference is on a live system, Setup checks for the AppCompatFlags in the registry. If the keys aren't populated correctly, Setup thinks you don't have a compatible PC. On a clean install, Setup directly runs the AppCompat checks.

MS is becoming a control freak. They are mimicking Apple. I've tried Apple but they will make every version of their OS obsolete every year or two with different hardware requirements. I'm not playing that game. When I had an Apple iBook every software was expensive. The best program I ever bought was one that let me run Windows 7 on the iBook!
Chrome OS is just asbad with very limited life times.

We need a switch or hub to keep our security up to date and an OS that never goes out of date.
