What happens for Win10 to Win11 in-place upgrade but the disk is MBR?

Could be any error with the in-place upgrade method (setup.exe /product server) but the current disk is MBR?

You need to convert MBR to GPT disk to upgrade to Windows 11.

In this video, i will show you how to convert MBR disk to GPT disk without losing a data in Windows 10 and Windows 11. If your PC supports UEFI, then you could use the MBR2GPT tool to switch from an MBR to GPT disk without data loss.

You can install Windows 11 on MBR. It's not typical, but it can be done using the typical unsupported hardware workarounds. I had a legacy BIOS laptop (this means MBR!). Since it could not support GPT I was forced to install it to an MBR disk, and it worked flawlessly. I tossed that machine about a month ago, but I kinda regret not holding onto my very last pure legacy BIOS machine now. But at the time I figured that if I absolutely had to test with legacy BIOS I could simply set up a Generation 1 Hyper-V VM.

At least I kept the CPU as a memento. Yes, laptops had socketed CPUs back then).

You mean the old laptop runs Windows 11 on a MBR disk with legacy BIOS? If yes, that is a good news.

One thing I have to keep aware of in answering a clients' questions is being sure to mention there is no 32-bit version of Win11, will rule out some older computers.
