Solved Where is the Bluetooth on/off switch Windows 11 Pro

I cannot find the on/off toggle for Bluetooth on my GMKtec K11. It is not where it is supposed to be, according to the YouTube postings. I am running Windows 11 Pro as the administrator. Everything was working just fine with my Bluetooth KeyChron Q3 and the Logitech Bluetooth trackball. I switch them between my Mac Studio and this NUC PC. I have no idea what happened. The Keyboard and the trackball pair normally with the Mac. I did a repair reload of Windows 11, and that made no difference. One other detail in the Bluetooth device page I am unablle to get it to forget a device so I can start a new pairing.

    Upgraded from Windows 10 Home to Windows 11 Home on 28 Oct 2023
I reloaded the Intel Bluetooth drivers, and there was an update. I do not have anything above the "Add device" line. I also noticed I had not completed the reload of Windows 11. I moved to macOS 3 years ago after 30-plus years of Windows. Windows 11 is actually not too bad. It is amazing how much of my Windows "chops" have disappeared in those 3 years. I still need a PC to operate my amatuer radio station this GMKtech NUC has been very good.

How does hiding a system tray icon turn off Bluetooth? I think the answer is, it doesn’t.

A whole sentence didn't post in my response, after hiding it I then turn Bluetooth off/disable in Device Manager. I have to be careful as Bluetooth is part of the Wireless adapter and can inadvertently get that turned off also. Some Notebooks also have an Fx key or Fn + Fx for disabling the Wireless adapter. It's been some time since I worked on a Notebook with a switch for it on the edge of the case.

Check your BIOS/UEFI settings to make sure Bluetooth is activated.

Looked through the BIOS and found nothing Bluetooth. Checked on the GMKTech form and Bluetooth failure is not that uncommon with these little machines.

Berton I am taking your advice and am purchasing an external Bluetooth radio. This one, I had enough credits at Amazon and got it for free. Bluetooth 5.4 and extended range. A Trick with these adapters is to purchase a USB extender cable. Plug the cable into your computer, then the adapter into the other end, and elevate it above your desk. This greatly increases its usable coverage area.

I have a dongle on an old Dell Inspiron N7010 17" Notebook from 2010 that had Win7, couldn't install Win10 [free no longer available and didn't want to spend much on it] so is now running Linux Mint just fine. The internal wireless adapter does not have 2G so use the dongle to get 5G with the bonus being a newer version of Bluetooth.

This is what I have in the settings. The on/off switch is not there, The Add Device tab just tells me to turn on Bluetooth. The mouse and keyboard I plugged in via USB. The MX Ergo is there, but I cannot pair it.

What I see for that Trackball on Logitech MX ERGO Advanced Wireless Trackball Mouse is that it uses a USB receiver [dongle], Bluetooth not mentioned

You obviously had bluetooth working at one time to have paired it in the first place. It's stopped working now though.

What do you see in Device Manager? Anything with a yellow warning triangle? If northing, what about if you 'show hidden devices'?

When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

I looked at this and the Bluetooth catatagory is missing. Even though I loaded Intel Wireless Bluetooth it does not show up where it should.

If you had bluetooth previously then it should show with 'View > Show hidden devices'. If so, the it means that the device is now not being recognised as attached to the system. This could be a loose cable, or hardware failure.

    My SYSTEM FIVE is a Dell Latitude 3190 2-in-1, Pentium Silver N5030, 8GB RAM, 1TB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro, plus Insider Beta, Dev, and Canary builds (and a few others) as a native boot .vhdx.

    My SYSTEM SIX is a Dell Latitude 5550, Core Ultra 7 165H, 64GB RAM, 1TB NVMe SSD, supported device, Windows 11 Pro 24H2, Hyper-V host machine. Updated to 25H2 on 30th September 2025.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine.
