Widgets blank and unresponsive after running Windows System Restore

Problem
After performing a System Restore to a previously created restore point, Windows Widgets stopped working entirely.

Background
I was attempting to install some software, encountered issues, and decided to roll back using a restore point that I had created prior to the installation.

Actual Result
When Windows restarted:
- All widgets were gone, displaying only a blank screen.
- Clicking the "+" button does nothing.

What I have tried
- Because clicking the "+" button was unresponsive, I turned Widgets off.
- I searched for "lost widgets" and found a few tutorials covering potential fixes.

Question
Do I need to uninstall and reinstall the widgets package/feature. I did a standard restart sufficient to restore functionality but it did not fix the problem. Losing widgets is not a dealbreaker for me, but I would like to know which approach is required to resolve this.

Yes, I saw that tutorial. I also saw one for uninstall and reinstall, hence the confusion of which to use. I will try the reset first.

Hopefully the reset will do the trick.

Like I said, not the end of the world. But I'll post here what happens. Just surprised a system restore would muck something up that was running fine before.
