I have been in the Release preview channel from the start of the system, this helps me to better serve clients and assist people

The fact that I get a copy of new releases a month or so early is a useful tool for me - the majority of general users will still be running windows 10 until they update their hardware - Businesses will also not update OS for a good while after the new OS has fully stabilised so I need to run the latest windows 10 at the moment.

I have a method to also run Windows 11 using Windows to Go so I can get used to the OS and support early adaptors. which is more compact than multiple hardware systems, and more reliable than Virtualisation

At present I am also involved in several application software test programs so do not wish to add extra complications by switching an OS during application testing.

I will be ready to upgrade after the holidays and Windows 10 will join my collection of other Operating systems, going back to XP, as an ISO that I can have running in minutes to check client issues in a safe windows to go environment

I'll throw my two cents in ......
After Windows 7 MS decimated the start menu, from Windows 8 and up , after every clean install I automatically install StartIsBack/StartAllBack , it's like second nature.

I think the best Start Menu for my liking was in Windows XP. It was functional and made things accessible with minimal clicks.
But after XP, it went downhill and has continued the slide ever since. And that's why we have seen the advent of third party start menus.

I have settled with Stardock Start11, but also enabled the Windows Start Menu in the Start11 settings, so I can choose either one, depending on whether I want functionality and productivity or cumbersome inefficiency.

It feels like they have a perverse vendetta against the start menu. Every new iteration is worse than the last. It does make me wonder if they gather any metrics on its use or ever test it with real humans?

It feels like they have a perverse vendetta against the start menu. Every new iteration is worse than the last. It does make me wonder if they gather any metrics on its use or ever test it with real humans?

To be fair, They can get rid of the start menu if they want altogether, I can't remember the last time i used it/needed it.

I don't use it either, but I myself liked the the full screen windows 10 menu. Just goes to show we don't all eat the same food :rolleyes:

I've never really had a major issue with the windows start menu, or other major UI component, I've been using and supporting Windows since the start, and I find it usually takes me a week or two to get my head round the UI and "little niggles" can usually be fixed with free third party utilities, others will likely have a different set of issues but the fixes are developed quickly

Can concur. I do find that opening it up to create folders and more pins has helped a lot too.

I avoid installing any 3rd-party tools that modifies Windows in any way. This is also most likely the reason my Windows usually work pretty good and without any huge headaches.

I get your point but if you know what your doing, some third party tools are quite helpful. I don't have any issues with the ones use.

In the major ERP systems that I have supported over my career, when I call vendor support about bugs the first thing they ask is if we did any modifications to their base code.... If so, the warranty is usually void.....
