You could video the screen as it closes down, then watch the video afterwards and pause it.

I would suspect a task isn't closing down, but just as Windows asks you what you want to do, the task closes anyway so the close down carries on regardless.

I'm not sure, but I think some shutdown triggers are better than others in W11. I've tried a bunch of them, and had the best success with the Start button, Power button, Shut Down sequence. I no longer see flashes of warning screens with that procedure. And no, it's not the same as using shutdown.exe or Alt+F or right-click Start, Shut down or sign Out, Shut down. There are subtle efficiency differences and noticeable speed differences in the 50-thousand ways to shut down Windows.

Some windows apps may be running in the background and Windows will try to Force Close them but they may complain and give an error message while being forced closed. If it is the same app, you can start the Task Manager and End the Process before shutting down.
During the shut down process, if you're fast enough, you can press the Pause Break Key (PAU BRK)to the right of PRT SC and SCR LK keys. Which will pause shut down so you can read the message until you press the key again.

this error flashes up on the screen in microseconds and how many times i try and use pause/break key to no avail, any ideas where the info could be shown on event viewer? or is there a record of close down in the system?

I wonder if that's just Windows warning you about losing progress in an application, because the application was busy or perceived to be busy by Windows. That would be the usual annoying message from Windows on shutdown.

Yeah, I find that the most efficient and fastest. R-click, short slide cursor, L-click. The system's response is very quick.
With the Start menu method, there's an inefficient slide operation involved: L-click Start, long slide cursor over to Power button, L-click Power button, short slide cursor, L-click Shut down. The system's response is not as fast as with the above method.

YMMV

Keyboarders probably prefer Alt+F4, Enter. But I find the system's response to that slower.

Hi,
Right click start button use it's restart or shut down options instead

Winkey+x type ur for restart or uu for shut down.
At first try no error, any reason a shortcuts I have on my desktop "C:\windows\System32\shutdown.exe -s -f -t 0" does not work and gives an error or restart "C:\windows\System32\shutdown.exe -r -t 0" which also gives the same error.

this was an in-site into the problem, but looking at the resultant log file I would appreciate some input from my peers as to what it means and where to go next.
I mean theres nothing in there that shows anything that i can see, Does anything show in Reliability Monitor?

I have re-tried Winkey+x menu and still the error occurs and I keep trying to use Pause key to no avail. Whilst this is annoying and I appreciate every ones help I wonder could this be a question i should put to Microsoft?

this was an in-site into the problem, but looking at the resultant log file I would appreciate some input from my peers as to what it means and where to go next.
I think the OP is now looking for assistance on the log error event posted in message #8 so the issue can be resolved. I looked at it, and it was gibberish to me.

there were 2 programs mentioned in the logs Mediabox and Office....

as a simple test to see if they are the culprits, open task manager and select then End process
then shut down as you normally do
