I don't know all the details, another family member was the one who set it up with Win10 a few months ago. I think he had cloned Win10 from their older laptop onto this one. He then went overseas for work, which is why they asked me to help instead as nobody else in the family is 'techy'. The laptop is only a few months old, but they cloned Win10 over to the new laptop from the old one so everything would be familiar for the elderly couple (but he had never mentioned about Win10 support ending before he left and the owners of the laptop are not very techy so didn't know about it either), so they asked me to install Win11 on it when they got the big 'Win10 support ended' warning as they did at least know it had originally come with Win11.Out of curiosity, how did they manage to install this specialty software on a new system without the software?
So they didn't install the software, it was already still there when he had done the clone.
