window size problem

for some reason my screen isn't properly sized and some of my bottom task bar is being cut off and the scroll bar on the right is also cut off. i messed around with the settings in nvidia control panel to adjust desktop size and position nothing solves the issue. any ideas?

Is it an external monitor? If so have you tried resetting defaults on the monitor?

adjust window size in nvidia control panel. not sure what else has any effect on this.

You can try
  • Re-installing the graphics driver
  • Remove and rediscover the monitor in Device manager
  • In Windows display settings try changing the resolution
  • Power cycling the monitor
  • Re-seating the HDMI cable

Your problem is probably the HDMI cable. Try upgrading to one with the HDMI 2.2 standard.

What is the resolution of your Monitor display panel ?

What is the (native) Resolution as shown in the Nvidia Control Panel ?
That is normally at the top of the list.
In Nvidia Control Panel: Display > Change resolution > 2. Choose the resolution.

In Windows: Settings > System > Display > Display resolution
There it should say (recommended) against the resolution at the top of the drop down list.

If you have been messing in the Nvidia Control Panel > Display > Adjust desktop size and position > Restore defaults(top right).

That is why I asked if it was a TV because your symptom is overscan in a TV.

You will need to use PC Mode on the HDMI input, or there maybe an overscan setting somewhere.

That means going through all the TV menus, some manufacturers may use different wordings so it can be confusing.
Also find the TV Handbook PDF, usually that is easier to search for a keyword.
