I got a notification from the Windows Updates Settings for Windows 11 that the 26H2 update can now be downloaded and installed.

However, this is rather strange because a major Windows Upgrade release installation should not take 5 minutes to accomplish.
This was a quick upgrade.

I do not see any major differences at all.

I even do not still see the Administrator Protection from the Account protection Setting....

However, the Admin Protection works even BEFORE this 26H2 update,
I still do not see the toggle switch for Admin Protection in the Windows Security / Account Protection Settings section.
See attached photos.

Or, should this 26H2 Upgrade should have been done using a Clean Installation instead?

26H2 Feature Upgrade is just an "Enablement Package".
25H2 already included all of 26H2, it just wasn't enabled.

The Enablement Package just turns those features ON.
But... the 26H2 features are on a phased rollout, just like all the other Feature Upgrades.

For example, I got the Taskbar resize and move features, but not the Start Menu resize option, yet.

This was a quick upgrade.

I do not see any major differences at all.
This was not a major update that replaces all the system files and creates a Windows.old, this was a feature update by enablement package, as was the 25H2 update. The last major update was 24H2.

24H2, 25H2, and 26H2 share a common code base. The 26H2 code has already been delivered in the latest cumulative updates, but is dormant until turned on by the small enablement package.

Not all the new features are enabled for everyone straight away, some are enabled for a few, then rolled out to all as MS gets results back. In fact, I already has the moveable taskbar enabled in my 25H2 before getting the 26H2 update.

UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to lid hinges starting to break up this laptop has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

    Info for 2021-2026:
fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

Putting it somewhat more direct.
You are overthinking, also you need to read the info supplied by MS where it is all explained about their changing update strategy.

I'm still a bit confused...

Do I already have the full update or upgrade to 26H2 or will the rest of the new features for this update is still pending?

Went to my device and under System and About and it shows Windows 11 Pro 26H2.

Does this mean now I have all the full 26H2 features or will that be coming out later?

Apologies for my confusion, but I thought this 26H2 Enablement Package update is actually the FULL update that has all the newer features to Windows 11.

It's a bit tricky.
Yes, you already have all the new features, but you won't see some of them, until MS deems you worthy. :-)

Rather than spend money on Quality Control, MS performs gradual rollouts of some or all of the new features.
The Enablement Package makes them all 'available" to MS.
Then, MS slowly makes them available to us.

They use us as guinea pigs. They "fully" enable some features for some users, then wait to see if they actually work without issue.
If they see that a feature gets enough responses like, 'yea it works', then they enable the features for a few more guinea pigs.

"Like sands through an hourglass, so go the days of feature releases". :D

Truth right there! We ARE the Beta Testers, and IMO this 'New Feature Lottery' concept Microsoft has decided to employ with Windows 11 Updates is idiotic!

However, the Administrator Protection is working because I enabled it from the Group Policy settings before the 26H2 update.

It could be that there will never BE a toggle. Only Microsoft knows for sure. ^^
