Windows 11 Annoyances

Driver issue? I'd be upset too - my internal wired network is gigabit, just like my Internet access is, so when things slow down I get irritated.

Mouse right-click function can be balky. I have to double- or triple-click to get context menu after boot. (BTW...still getting used to the context menu...lol.)

I have concluded they have lots of guys named Ron in the W11 development team (More Rons).

These guys obviously have the intelligence of an amoeba (sorry amoebae - I did not mean to insult you, you are clearly more intelligent) to think the new Start Menu is a good design. The old W10 menu allowed you to group tiles by type, and nest them as well.

The new design is PATHETIC with no flexibility.

Its like a poxy mobile phone screen without ability to have multiple pages.

It is even worse now that you cannot revert to W10 menu.

Since I moved the Start Menu to the left and pinned my most used apps/programs to the taskbar, I rarely go to the Start Menu any more.

It "almost" takes the place of my Quick Launch Bar.

I agree this is definitely a problem, but not really a Windows annoyance. More of an annoyance that companies drag their feet to fix these things and hide behind the excuse that the OS is beta... when this, really, is their chance to have things ready when the final version is released.

I'm in agreement that there are things that really need tweaking. The start screen occupies so little of my screen. Why not allow me to resize it so that I can fit more items onto the screen at once?

Also, no folders or groups is sheer stupidity, ESPECIALLY when there is room for so few icons on the main screen before you have to scroll.

It would also be nice if they allowed you to turn of that "Recommended" section in the lower half of the screen to make room for more pinned items.

I also noticed that in File Explorer there seems to be no way to clear your search history other than deleting one item at a time.

I'm curious how much, if any of this, will get addressed prior to release.

I was able to clear all the files from that section, but not delete the section - which would be nice.

To be fair it's not best practice to test against a non-release candidate as it is likely bug-ridden and liable to code change which then requires repeated retesting. However, MS might choose to do test-driven development but you can't expect a third party to do same when it's not even their code

I tried the Beta version for a couple of weeks and then went back to Win 10. MS just pushed the production version and after download and install I found the Windows Start icon was useless and there was no way to power down or restart the computer other than with the power button. There is a Setting gear icon on the right-hand end of the systems tray that brings up abbreviated system info but you have to click on the gear icon again within that window to get to the actual Systems Settings page.

I was pretty happy with the Beta version and didn't find anything I didn't like. After about 20 minutes with this production mess I have reverted to Win 10. Microsoft needs to do better than this.

The production version hasn't come out yet and I wonder what you're using. I'm using Windows 11 Home 10.0.22000.100 and there's a shutdown option and access to the settings work.

What build number are you using??

Ummm, I'm on the latest DEV Channel Release Insider Preview Build 22000.100, which, in other words, is a Beta release.

Microsoft has announced Windows 11 RTM (release to manufacturing) sometime near the end of 2021 or possibly early in 2022, so I'm not sure what you're thinking is the "production version".

We have a bit of Beta Testing to go before Microsoft releases the "production version" (Final Version) of Windows 11.

It amazes me for what people come up with just to bash Microsoft. And this begs the questions of whether GopherM even tried to use the OS considering this comment...
