I need to update disk space. I have a ULNA cloner, so I got a 2TB SSD and cloned it. But I have a twist that is causing me problems.

I have 2 Lenovo laptops, different ages. Both are Ideapad Flex, just different models.

MOdel 1 _ 1 TB drive, older laptop
Model 2 - 512 GB drdive, newer laptop.

End Goal
  • Move the 1 TB drive from model 1 to model 2. This would require copying the data from Model 2 to the Model 1 drive
  • With a new 2TB drive, copy the data from the 1 TB drive to it.
So I thought I would clone model 2 512 drive to the new 2TB drive. Then clone the 312 to the old 1tb drive.

So my first attempt is done, with the new 2TB drive containing the data from Model2.

So when I boot the laptop, it askes for my Bitlocker key. I enter it, and it says that good, and takes me to login screen. It is requiring a PIN, has disabled the finger print. But when I go to enter the pin, it says the PIN cannot be used due to hardware change. It has a link to go to Microsoft and change the PIN. But then when I click that, it fails because it is not on the internet. So I see no way to get it logged in.

security - it is preventing you from doing what someone else could do.

decrypt, change or copy, and when everything works, encrypt again.

You should be able to signin with a password instead. On logon screen you should see "signin options". Click that and your then see 2 icons. The one on the left is a key. Click that and the signin box should change to using a password instead of a pin..
