Windows 11 : does not want RAM to be overclocked

Hello all,
I have a PC that I have updated from Windows 10 to Windows 11, that has 4 DIMM of 8 Gb that I have overclocked to 3600 Mhz (and those are XMP-4000 Mhz rated)
The motherboard is a X570 AORUS MASTER from Gigabyte and DDR4 Gskill memory.
Under Windows 10, overclocking at 3600 Mhz worked like a charm for years. I have decided to update this machine to windows 11.
But was a bad idea :
Under Windows 11, the PC is now unreliable, and had BSOD from time to time, hibernate or sleep actions leads to OS crash.
Looking minidumps with windbg showed an issue related to RAM, in all cases.
So I decided to set RAM speed to 2133 MHZ, and I have no problem anymore using Windows 11, but this is a pity.
What has changed to cause those RAM issues I did not have with Windows 10 ?

Look at the SPD tab in CPU-z and see what the RAM is supposed to run at (in the XMP column).
THEN... in the BIOS set the RAM to the frequency, timings and voltage shown in CPU-Z

This topic, pretty much shows you how to do it...
Ofc you need to use your own frequency, timings and voltage.
(Disable DOCP or XMP, in your BIOS first).

I have no idea what your problem might be.

I have a couple of Asus motherboards. On the RoG Strix Z690-E (with an I9-13900K), I have some Gskill RAM running per its XMP settings (DDR5 6000MHz). On the Tuf Gaming X570 Plus, I was running DDR4 3800 with 2 sticks, but had to drop the frequency to 3600 when I went to 4 sticks. (The RAM hadn't been tested to support 4 DIMMs at 3800.)

The differences between Win10 and 11 have seemed small to me.

I have had no issue overclocking my RAM on Windows 11. I don't see how it could be Windows - overclocking RAM is a hardware thing. If your OC is unstable under 11, it probably was under 10 also. Have you done any BIOS updates or has Windows updated your CPU microcode? Those are the only two things I can think of that would affect your memory OC.

I would suggest tweaking your OC. Details of your OC?

EDIT: BTW, your PC spec MB is "ASUS AORUS Master". Do you mean "Gigabyte Aorus Master", or ...?

Could you need to update your UEFI firmware (BIOS) to improve compatibility? Check if there is a new version and proceed with caution. Needless to say that you should do it with normal RAM settings, not overclocked.

I did update to the latest Bios; F36 version from 28th Dec 2022. There's a new one I can give a try to see, But I'm not very optimistic with this.
I have downloaded also RIZEN Master software, where CPU can tweak DRAM timing (on the fly? not sure), but this seems to me rather complex to achieve, you need to be an electronic engineer to tune this... Unless there's some tutos somewhere.
What is sure is that if I use XMP DRAM setting, the Bios resets and does not accept it, I have to put manually 36 x 100 Mhz

If I remember well, Ryzen Master should have an "easy" or "quick" mode that tries to automatically tune the system, unless of course you are an expert user and want to manually fine tune it. Try changing the slot of the RAM modules, if you have any other free, to see it that makes any difference.

More like the CPU's IMC (integrated memory controller) is protesting the RAM speed. Considering the 3900X is only rated to 3200 MHz RAM,

all things considering you're lucky it runs at all at 3600 MHz. Not only are you overclocking the RAM as far as the CPU/IMC are concerned, you're running 4 sticks which puts an even bigger strain on the IMC.

You might try the current Beta BIOS (F37b) which has the latest AGESA with security updates, and has proved very stable for me. I can say that your problem is not Windows 11 - The same motherboard and processor are working very well here at 3600 MHz, and my RAM is not as good as yours; although I do note that you are using 4 RAM sticks, which tends to be a bit more fussy when it comes to timings. I'm using the XMP settings for my RAM, but one of the sub timings changes from the official default, so I usually put it back. I don't use Ryzen Master - all settings are done in BIOS/UEFI.

Can't you just set the frequency and let the timings to Auto? In my main computer (see 2nd system specs), the default SPD frequency is 1333MHz, and I had to manually change it to 1600MHz. I left the timing settings to Auto. My RAM works at 1600MHz without any issue. I also noticed that not all CPUs support all RAM frequencies. For example, when I first bought my computer I put a second generation Intel Core i3 2xxx and didn't support 1600MHz. Fortunately I replaced it with a third generation Intel Core i3 3220 which did support 1600MHz. I now have upgraded that to third generation Intel Core i7 3770 which also supports 1600MHz. So take into account that as well.

That is not the issue here. There are many people using the Ryzen 3900x running 3800 MHz (memory clock 1900 MHz), although that does take some tweaking. I prefer the certainty of stability rather than speed, and I use 3600 MHz (memory clock 1800 MHz) with the same processor as the OP.

Might help if you list your RAM freq., timings and voltage.
That will give the OP a starting place anyhow.

Like these are mine for 3200Mhz GSkill RAM...

But... GSkill has... 3200Mhz RAM with various timings...

This is the 4000Mhz GSkill on his motherboard RAM support list...

You'll need to look up the settings for your RAM and use those. There is a mass of information out there for your combination of processor, motherboard and probably RAM. I suggest you look at one of the overclocking web sites e.g. overclock.net for example which has long and very detailed threads on the best settings to use with a range of x570 motherboards.

BIOS can do "Auto" ? I can recall it tries to use XMP 4000, and "crash" and put all default values back to 2133 Mhz... (i.e 1053x2)
Below my current setting. I have to change 45 parameters manually ? You have to be an electronic engineer to achieve this and understand what those parameter mean ...

CPU-Z doesn't show the D in my RAM either.
