I read the original information from MS/AMD and it's not as bad as they make it out to be. Nowhere did the original state how much the impact was and it also stated the issue would be cleared up by Oct.. 2021.

Stories are there to draw clicks and revenue. More heat than light.

I didn't say it was bad or anything..i dont own a ryzen so i really couldn't care less, Just thought the info would be helpful, Didn't realise id get a snappy wide response but hey ho, Yeah it says oct in the articles for a fix and also the reason i believe. up to 15% based on users experiences im gonna say, Guessing the number must be based on some form of info.

It all depends on whether you are on the dev build or beta/RTM as to whether you can even see this. For the L3 this is what it looks like in the Aida64 cache and memory benchmark (from 168 before the dev/beta split),

So from the looks of things it is still present in the current beta/RTM release, and also why the fix has been announced already because it has been fixed, just not in RTM.

Everything is relative anyway, All the talk around performance recently got be checking my Rysen 9 [5950] against various other options, obviously it was near the top in various tests and I was pleased enough. One thing that did stand out - for a while now reading through reports on software releases for the Image processor software I use, the super performance of Apple's new M1 processor [aka Apple Silicon] now the apple users were all blown away at the speed of the New processor in various software ...

Now as it happens the one speed test I read for current processors that Included the M1 processor, my 5950 had a score of over three times the M1 so everything is relative ;)

    Also use an Adjustable Support for Laptop and Adjustable stand for monitor
Ryzen is too smart for Windows. They had a lot of issues in Windows 10 too, especially on CPUs with 2 or more NUMA nodes.

This issue was mainly because of an outdated scheduler. Should be pretty much fixed now.

You can still get a bit more umf out of Ryzen under Linux compared to Windows, but the difference isn't as drastic as it was with early Ryzen CPUs.

Indeed it is. We have to keep in mind that M1 is a 14W TDP chip while 5950x is 105W TDP chip with twice the core count.

M1 is the better chip, but 5950x is the faster. :wink:

I have two 500GB 860 EVO SSDs (same computer). One has Windows 10, the other has Windows 11.
The Windows 11 is an In-Place upgrade of the Windows 10. So the 3rd party software is identical.
So I compared the two for L3 cache speed... note the difference in the L3 cache latency.

Well.. I did a clean instillation of Win11 .194 not too long ago and here is what I have.. As you can see.. it's not enabled and I didn't turn it off at any point. So.. I don't know where they got the idea that VBS is turned on automatically.

Result! Ah well the ultra defensive heat i got for mentioning some articles and %'s were close enough! I did read somewhere though thats its generally 3-5% but between 10-15% for games, how much truth there is in that, who knows

Works fine with my Ryzen 5600X -- no issues in Win10, and none since I upgraded to Win11, either.

The fact that MS ACKNOWLEDGES the issue and is working on a fix indicates MS is on top of these usual findings after initial release. Personally my AMD RYZEN 7 has had no issues with any of the releases, including the official release. Or any of the DEV Releases either.
