Windows 11 Explorer, File Properties, How to Change the Rating?

I am stumped. On Windows 10 Explorer, you can click Properties, and under the Detail tab you would see Rating, and be able to change the ratings from 1 star to 5 stars.

Now on Windows 11 Explorer, It shows "# Stars" for any that were set under Windows 10 but you cannot change the Rating property anymore under Windows 11 Version 21H2

Any suggestions on how to change file ratings under Windows 11?

Nirsoft PropertySystemView can still change all these. However you have to enter a "raw" value, eg 50=3 stars , 75=4 stars and 99=5 stars.

Sorry for barging in, but what exactly are the "file ratings", what's the point of that?

Perhaps Ratings are only shown within the Music App in W11!

Certainly can't change it within File Explorer the way you used to...

Are you telling me that you are actually rating your own files? Why bother?

Perhaps some wish to sort by rating...

Yes, how careless of me.

WMP let me set a rating but I can now see that the change was not reflected in FE.

The rating is simply a metadata for the file that can be useful to create smart playlists. For example, you can create a smart playlists of all files that have a rating of 1*, 2*, 3*, etc.

This is a Win 11 deal-breaker for me.
I have spent literally THOUSANDS of hours on my mp3 tags.
My 20,000 MP3's can be sorted by artist, song title, year, composer, genre or "rating".
(or a combination of the above)
My rating system:

5 stars -- Great song -- made Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart (A Hard Day's Night)
4 stars -- Great song -- made Top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart (I Should Have Known Better)
3 Stars -- Great song -- did not chart (Magical Mystery Tour)
2 Stars -- Good song -- made at least #100 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart (Act Naturally)
1 Star -- Good song -- did not chart (Everybody's Trying To Be My Baby)
0 Stars -- Not rated -- not that good of a song (I Wanna Be Your Man)

If people want music, I ask what year(s) do they want, what type(s) of songs, etc.
Many people skip the 5's -- you hear those songs all the time.
These are my own ratings based on my taste -- some top 10 songs get 2's, etc.
I've never had anyone complain about my playlists.

Microsoft just randomly dropped the rating option in File Explorer?
I can only assume that they underestimated how people have been using their rating system...

You probably have to run a File Explorer alternative, such as Explorer Patcher or StartAllBack...

It's just frustrating that we *had* something that worked fine, and Microsoft chose to hose it up, for no apparent reason...

If you are looking for the "Windows Experience Index" it is no longer available in Windows 11. If you liked it, you may download a 3rd party application from the site below.

I know the site references Windows 8.1, but I have been told it works on Windows 11. No personal endorsement intended.
