Windows 11 input stalls or runs riot.

I have a Win11 problems which occurred in Win 10 too. Every so often my typing stops being accepted. It might be seconds before it allows me to restart typing. When I look at the task Manager it initially seems to be running at 100 percent utilisation but quickly reduces to many 10s. I also noticed there are up 30 instances of Google Chrome running, although their total percent utilisation doesn’t seem to add up to much.

When I kill three or four instances of zero percent, the utilisation drops to single figures and my typing can restart soon after.

The other problem is the opposite; when I’m typing suddenly the last letter entered starts repeating at a rapid rate, until I bash a few keys when it stops.

Any answers?

That sounds more like a Keyboard problem which could mean the first issue may also be a keyboard problem.

I hav chanegd batteores in K/B and mouse but will try again but the 30 x Google instances bother me. Terry

It’s happened over 2 Operating systems, can’t be a coincidence. Well it could be, but…

You haven’t really made an effort with your System Specs, so I have to ask you what type of Keyboard it is?

Buy a can of compressed air and blow out any dust under the keys. Especially if it’s a mechanical keyboard. Which is what fixed mine.

I ave a similare issue, Have now replaced batteries in K/B and mouse and will await the outcome over a month.

What you're seeing in Chrome is normal. because Chromium-based browsers use the multi-process architecture model.
This model keeps websites separate from each other and the rest of your computer. Also, individual processes are created for the GPU process, the Renderer, each add-on, etc. In short, you'll see many smaller processes versus one big one.

Oh, so your keyboard and mouse are wireless? (Quite a critically important piece of information somehow missing from the original post).

What kind of interface are these devices using to connect to your machine? Bluetooth? Or a dedicated dongle that you insert into an USB port?

Try a Clean Boot. If this works, you can leave it this way or if you want to know why, add one or more Service or Startup item(s) until the behavior returns.

Also, try a Wired Keyboard to eliminate hardware troubleshooting
