OS
Windows 11
This is a new system with plenty of resources (Ryzen 5900X, Radeon 6900XT 64gb) and when it's working, I rather like Windows 11. This is only a few weeks old and was a clean Windows 11 build. I began using this as my primary system last week after installing a new video card and moving my main monitor from my old W10 setup. I have seen this issue daily. Current build is the latest 22000.434 but it has crashed since that update too.

At random times (so far when user input is idle) the entire system freezes. I will attempt to change what I am reading or begin working again and I have zero keyboard input. The mouse responds for a while but has no effect on any window but the start menu (though no selection there will launch). The clock time is frozen so I can tell
when the issue occurred but there is literally nothing in the event logs at the time of the freeze or until I reboot. I don't see any crash log or dump (though I might not be looking in the correct place).

I have read vague mentions of issues with Ultrawide screens (3440 x 1440) which I happen to use. I can't find any reference to a wide screen issue though. Anyone else experience this issue? Is it known to the windows 11 team?

Thanks
Tom

Edit - Resolved
To save anyone interested some time reading the entire thread: Fixing my first screen lockup issue involved removing the Amoury Crate software (3.1.1.2 installer). My BSOD has not reoccurred since updating my ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero X570 bios (Dec 15 2020 release).

Thanks everyone for your help.

I installed the new AMD driver shortly after posting my comment. May not mean anything, but I had an error while updating indicating an old driver so I uninstalled all Radeon drivers and did a clean install for my 6900 XT. So far actively using the pc I have not had an issue the last three hours.

My PC health is fine. I will work on the V2 log collector next.

By crashed, I mean frozen. No BSOD just no further keyboard or mouse input accepted nor screens updated.

I do not know if it's the same thing you have, but I also experience Windows explorer freezes a couple of times a day. Reports across the web and the feedback hub show that others are also experiencing the problem. When it happens hit Ctrl + Alt + Delete on your keyboard, then select Task Manager. On the Processes tab, scroll all the way to the bottom and right click on Windows Explorer and select restart.

It got so aggravating for me I made a keyboard shortcut that kills the process and restarts it. Make a shortcut somewhere to
C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /c taskkill /im explorer.exe /f & start explorer.exe
I named mine Kill Explorer. Then right click on the shortcut and select properties. Under shortcut key I assigned Ctrl + Alt + K. You can assign whatever keyboard combination you want. It saves a lot of time.

In my case I could not start task manager using the keyboad or mouse. I will leave task manager running and see if I can interact with it. I will keep your work around in mind when it freezes up next time.
Thanks

Sadly, the new device driver did not resolve the issue as it locked up again. This time while I was actively typing in Notes. Had task manager running but could not interact with it's window. All windows had stopped updating. I created the kill shortcut just to see if I can run it next time. Still need to follow zbooks advice next break I get.

Decided not to upload to BSOD as my issue is not a crash. Looking through the collected log files though I don't see anything related to when the system freezes just when I force the reboot.

Anyone have any other ideas?

Im having same issue when I upgraded to 22523/26 from 22509.

If I leave it idle for quite sometime or until my monitor turns off (set to 10mins) once I come back everything is frozen and only the mouse is moving. the only way out is to hit ctrl-alt-delete. but sometimes pressing the space bar right after I move the mouse made it responsive again. weird.

I think its a driver issue. but i've reinstalled it and still the same. so, yeah. dunno. 🤷‍♀️

Very similar. In my case I no keyboard input so even ctrl-alt-delete is not an option.

While running these I experienced the most interesting lock up so far. I was able to interact with multiple windows (Notes, Edge, Task Manager) after word died. One by one the others locked up accepted no further input. The files appear to have been created cleanly though.
