Windows 11 PC health check - Your school manages this PC


Yeah. Because there are enough techheads, gurus, and tinkerers out there like @Kari who will easily find a way to make a Win 11 install onto older hardware. Unless Microsoft does something extremely stupid and hardcodes the limitations into the kernel - which they might.

I certainly hope so - I don't want ot have to replace my backup work laptop since it's still under its extended warranty for another year lol. But as a fully remote worker, I seewhat others are using to connect ot do their work and it's ... scary.

I hope they relax the 8th gen Intel and up requirement for Insiders. The plans they have now may well toss a very large number of us out come early 2022. Seems a bit like tossing the baby out with the bath water.

It was the chart that triggered my post. I don't see any changes from what I first read. My Beta builds will be set RP and I have an "Option" to rejoin right back to where I was????? That's a little kooky.

Sorry, I thought you meant for the IP releases, not final release.

I really think the TPM requirement + Intel's open sourcing of TPM in 2018 is what is leading to the CPU cutoff - prior to those CPUs the only way to have it was hardware, but those included support firmwareTPM as well, which Windows 11 can make use of.

It makes much more sense than my conspiracy-style theory of the date being random dart thrown at a calendar and arbitrarily saying "Nothing older" lol.
