Solved Windows 11 stopped recognizing my android phone

Broken USB-C port, it needs replacing, a specialist repair job.

Your post #19 plus "My Samsung S23 has been fine for years." Exactly, thus chances of wear & tear on USB-C port are increased.
Examine the USB-C port magnifying glass and a good light.

"Does phone link send large video files between pc and phone ?" Yes, probably up to the free OneDrive allocation of 5 GB, I'm just guessing, you do the work.

You have 3 other file transfer options:
1. Wifi to your Router thence Ethernet/Wireless to Laptop/PC i.e. LAN
2. Bluetooth.
3. Phone Link, which you know works.

Okay i have accessed another pc and A23/S23 is completely dead on any cable except charging. The only real issue on A16 is a dying camera module that when you use flash mode on camera you get dim images instead.

But it's a easier the devil you know to live with with than a dead USB-C port.

Time to buy a new Phone!
Whoa whoa hold your horses. My laptop here has barely been owned for 2 months since January 2026 and phone my good phone is 1/2 year.
Money doesn't grow on trees and it takes more than a half failing camera flash to convince my family to consider a new phone.

I'll just learn all of the phone programs as emergency backups. Only real problem is moving any large files.
For everyone that pitched in suggestions, you have my thanks.

This is not a phone issue, although yours sound like they do need replacing. This is a computer issue because I'm having the exact same problem!

Any Android phone (I don't have any apple ones) I plug into the computer gets a message saying "Device not recognized" and then it shows up as "Samsung Mobile USB Composite Device" / "USB Composite Device" in device manager.

Is it a faulty cable? Faulty port? Maybe a faulty phones? Well, I have three different phones, multiple ports, multiple cables and they all give the same error. (with the samsung sometimes being labeled as "samsung mobile USB Composite device" until I try deleting the driver.
I plugged it into a different computer and it worked immediately! But it still won't work on my primary PC.

I've even repaired / reinstalled windows using both the Windows 10 Media Creation tool and through the Reset This PC in system settings. Neither of which worked.

Soooo I was wondering if you've solved your issue, and if not, maybe this post can offer some insight!

Sadly there are no easy changes.

You just have to hope you need to test a unopened cable and any of your good phones. In worst cases you need google drive or repair a usb-c port on the phones sides.
