I have always done my upgrades from within Windows and have never come across that error. All right... Try it the way that you usually do. On bootup. Let us know if it works out! I'm going to look into that error.

You are trying to use the wrong setup file. You do NOT open sources but run setup.exe from root of installation.

Heres a pic of the drive with the rufus made USB bootable image. I downloaded and used the recent rufus from their site and this is what it looks like. I left it use all the default settings(GPT, UEFI). As you can see I dont have the setup.exe in the main folder. Only in the sources folder.

Download Windows 11
ok but it downloads and installs its own windows 11 file on my usb. But what version of windows and do i get to pick the version? does it update to the latest version after the one i want to be on?
Edit: Ok I made a usb with the Media Creation tool for windows 11. Then I just opened the pen drive folder and clicked setup.exe..so far so good. Im just afraid its gonna erase my personal files apps etc

I've made many bootable drives using the media creation tool and I've downloaded isos and used Rufus to make bootable drives. Every single one using both methods has had a setup.exe at root of drive.

I've made many bootable drives using the media creation tool and I've downloaded isos and used Rufus to make bootable drives. Every single one using both methods has had a setup.exe at root of drive.
I know too, don't get how his is missing.

well i c
You select second option on page i linked download media creation tool not directly to USB to download folder on PC run exe file. Pic recommended Windows version. Site have 22h2
reated the usb and ran the setup.exe. worked fine but afraid to install. Because there are about 10 different ways being explained and im used to just using rufus and booting from the drive with my usb stick in but the rufus software didnt create it correctly apparently. Why? Idk. I got it right off their site. And all I can say is ill just wait for my regular updates to come through my windows updates even though im apparently running a year old windows version even though those are the updates being given to me through windows update...lol
