Windows 11 Pro 25H2 OS Build 26200.7705
Hello Everyone-

Is there, somewhere, a list of flakey/bad Windows 11 Updates floating around out there?......

Some of the strange anomalies on my System seem to have ironed themselves out, however,
we're having difficulties with SSD/Monitor Sleep settings and thought, perhaps, an errant
Update might have had something to do with it.

I guess after this, we'll locate the Power Options threads here and see what we can sort out.

A brief history on this machine, we're the original owner and it came from HP with
Windows 7 Pro installed. We did some minor mods to it, and it's been a great machine for
what I do. We didn't Upgrade to Windows 10, so we researched around and found there
was a way to Upgrade to Windows 11 Pro. Frankly, we didn't have time to do this 'in house',
so off to the local computer repair facility it went- $80 and next day return we had a decent
running Windows 11 machine. Admittedly, it's a smidge slower than Windows 7 Pro was.....
but not unbearably so.

Thanks to all for any direction and/or guidance.

Peace/Out-
Tim W.

REF- Windows 11 PRO version 24H2 (OS Build 26100.4946)

Thanks.....back in the Windows 7 era, there were a fair amount of bad Updates....

At this point, I think we're leaning more toward a Settings issue, and quite
possibly my failure to understand the Power Options Settings in rational fashion.

I guess we'll play with it some more, and if need be, search for the appropriate
Thread to deal with it.

Again, thanks, Martin!

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 15 years?
If you've installed KB5063878, you may have found one that might just quality as flaky/bad.

Why yes, I installed that update on 8/18/2025. In what way is if flaky/bad? While I do not stress test the entire system daily, I haven't noticed anything. I see there are some complaints about problems with SSDs, but I don't have a SSD. I put off the update for several days, because it wasn't convenient to install it when it first arrived. However, for me, it is just business as usual. Is something else suppose to happen? For me it was just a "nothing burger".

Naw, they just turn your name green. :-)

It actually helps us help the poster, when they list their specs.

Yeah, buddy, I get the part about 'specs' and said reasoning..... 'twas the '10 points' that struck the A&W chord....lol!

Turning the page, the comment(s) regarding KB5063878 and adverse SSD effects- I did see mention about it on
Google News Feed on me Android, but initially ignored it.....and have now Uninstalled that Update, for now.
I do not need my new SSD trashed.

Briefly, has this been addressed on another thread?.....I didn't fire up this machine until yesterday,
so it didn't get installed until then......we'll just wait and see how Microsoft handles this.

With that said, personally, do not like the direction they are headed with their Windows platform. To me, it gets worse
with every subsequent iteration....and I'm not alone on that thought, either.

Just want to say 'Thanks!' to all for your input(s).

This device smokes the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, for $400-$500 less, except the Camera specs. My eyes can't tell the difference!
For me it was just a "nothing burger".

For most people, KB5063878 is probably not a problem. It's still an open question what systems are affected and why. FWIW, they also mention hard disks in the issues, so you're not immune just because you don't have an SSD. ;-) FWIW, I have SSD's throughout, and I did a 350GB image file transfer between two of them, and then back again. After two copy operations, the file passed a binary compare with the original. I know that's just a sample of one, but clearly everyone with KB5063878 is not going to fall out of bed on the first large file transfer.
